Do You Use a Laptop or Regular Computer While Online?

I was just wondering if people here own one or the other, or both. I know I own both, and there are advantages to owning both a Home Computer and a Laptop. For instance right now I am on my laptop. I have been able to post in here from a Restaurant with Free wifi, and now I am at the Library with Free wifi. I have also recently purchased an Internet Card that I can use online with my laptop from anywhere I am at as well, but I still tend to use my Home Computer the most when I am at home.
For me, there are advantages to owning both even though it would have been nice if I could have afforded to buy this laptop outright instead of having monthly payments. But having both capabilities is nice. Since we are going to New Jersey and NYC to visit in about 6 weeks on vacation, this laptop will sure come in handy then to be able to keep in touch.
So from now on whenever you see me posting you can wonder where I am at. But having access to the internet from anywhere I am at really is nice. It also feels great to know I can connect to you from anywhere I am at.

Well, I think anymore there are so many different ways to connect and be online. I know for me, it really depends on where I am at and what time of day. But knowing anywhere I am, almost always as long as I have WiFi, I can keep connected.

Yes, having portable devices, is always a Good thing. Now there is way more ways than this, but anytime you can be connected with the outside world no matter where you are at, is something we can always be proud of.

This is probably one of the reasons I keep a desktop. The only downfall is some of the games out there are no longer being made and each time a new computer or version of windows comes out, these games become obsolete. But now I own a laptop, desktop, tablet and a smartphone so I have no excuse to ever be online.

I currently use a desktop while online. But like you said. If i travel, I'd always bring a laptop handy. You can possibly expect people to bring their desktop abroad do you? I use my desktop almost all the time though... Its kinda easier and my thighs won't get hurt.. (but my butt will)

Well, I think it really is what is a personal choice. I now own 4 ways to get online, but never really use my laptop anymore. Even considering selling it. But it is nice to have various ways to be able to get online.

Well, I now have my tablet, HTC phone, desk top and laptop I never use, so as long as there is wifi I can be online. For me with the busy schedule I have at times, being able to be online is truly worth it especially to be able to post back in here.

At the moment I actually have two laptops. My desktop was ancient and in need of being replaced and then came hurricane Katrina. Long story short I bought a laptop because it was wireless enabled. 7 years later, I'm on my second laptop.

Well, I still have a Desktop and my Laptop, which I rarely use, and then I also have my HTC cellphone with internet access and a tablet, so anytime there is WiFi access, I have a reason to be online. It really makes it worth while being able to be in here no matter where I am at.

Having access no matter where you are is a definite advantage. I suppose one day I'll have one of those phones that can do that. I got a new phone last year though, so I doubt I will change phones again anytime soon.

That is always good when you can connect from anywhere you are. I know now there are a lot more ways to connect, so it seems like from almost anywhere, as long as I have WiFi access, or cell phone service, I can be online.

I tend to use both, depending on the circumstances. I use the desktop computer mainly while at home, then I use my laptop while away from home such as on holiday.
There are also odd occasions when the desktop is in use but I am not actively involved, such as processing large video files etcetera, so I would leave the desktop running and go online with my laptop while waiting for the process to complete.

Well, even though I have a Fast laptop, for me being on my desktop is definately more convenient and usually a lot faster just because it is always hooked up to excellent service at home.

Well, I know this discussion is old as it was started over 6 yrs. ago, and someone decided to revive it. I now have my desk top, a lap top which I rarely use, and considering selling, and my HTC smartphone and a tablet. So it seems like most of the time if I have a few spare moments, I can take time and post in here. Gives me a chance to escape so to speak anywhere.

I just have a laptop. Some people like lap tops because they can carry it with them when they travel I don't need my computer that much that I would take it on trips with me. I like my lap top because if I had to take it from room to room, it would be much essier than having a large computer. The only bad thing I find about having a compugter is that I use it basically as a hobby. I do make extra money by using my computer by joining certain websites. I do feel that I wish I didn't depend on my computer to make me happy since I retired. I feel that I should be doing other things. But then again, considering my age, it's a good thing I am able to use a computer.Does anyone else feel that I should be doing other things instead of using my computer to keep me happy?

Well, even with working full time and trying to run a business, I would be lost without my internet access. Now I have a desktop, HTC phone a tablet, and my laptop which I rarely use. As long as I have wifi access, I can not be online from almost anywhere.

Owning a tablet is quite nice, and does have its advantages. The main advantage is it is a great way to keep connected online, and in here because almost everywhere these days offers some form of WiFi. And then if you own an android one, you can download a lot of games for Free for times you cannot be online you can play.

Unless and until I have to be online to earn a nicken in the next 5 minutes, I will continue to use my home computer and then any library near where I am staying. I use a desktop. My daugher has a laptop and finding a place whre it will work is sometimes daunting. I do not like the keys or touch pad. They are just meant for my speed. Perhaps I need to get more reaquainted with laptops but their short battery life is really aggrevating. I am glad you can seemlessly compute and hope it continues to be that way for you.

I only own a Desktop computer, and not a Laptop so I only access the internet from home one a regular computer. Occasionally I will also access the internet from the library or from a friend's house, but usually I only get online when I am at home.

Yes, most of the time, you are safest when using a Computer from home, but it is nice to be able to keep in touch with people when away, especially if you travel.

You are extremely lucky as you own both laptop and desktop. More than that you can use Free WiFi from anywhere, library or restaurants. Here in our third world countries like Pakistan, there is no such concept of WiFi. Laptop and desktops are easily available but laptops are expensive as compared to desktops. I own a desktop and every time I have to use Internet, I have to dial to the ISP which causes one telephone call, as local telephone calls within the city are not free at all. DSL, cable Internet is not available in my part of city where I am living, this doesn't mean that I am living in very remote area but its the way it is over here.

I use a laptop at work and another laptop at home. This gives me a very nice feeling of freedom. I take it with me from my desk to other places... I also have some free space on Internet, that allows me to synchronize files I am working at and update them either in the office or at home.
As to being online, in the office I connect through the Local Network to a router which distributes internet all over the place. At home I have a broadband connection, but I also have a wireless connection. I'm so to say "well connected".

Yes, it is great to be able to have ways to connect online no matter where you are at. And to have so many different choices really gives most people no excuse to do what they need to do. I know I would be lost without having ways to connect.

I have both a regular and a laptop computer, but I almost always use the laptop when I'm online. My fianceƩ prefers the stationary computer, and I like to lie in bed while I check my e-mail after a hard days work so it all works out in the end.

Yes, when there is more than one person in the household wanting to be online at one time, especially if you have a router, this is a good thing to have ways for more than one to be online all the time. Comes quite in handy as well as like you said, no fighting over who's turn it is as well.

Yes, it is true that a lot of times, you can really do more on a home computer than you can on a laptop, unless you have your laptop especially built for certain things. I personally think overall for traveling purposes it is best now to have something more than a home computer.
