I dread mosquitoes. They are very pesky bugs. They tend to irritate me while doing something. Worse they even carry deadly diseases such as dengue and malaria. That is the reason why I carry myself a bottle of mosquito-repellant lotion to keep them off. These bloodsucking insect usually shoots up my blood pressure. Be careful with them.

Some Least-Toxic Mosquito Sprays Include:
Oil of Lemon: The scented oil of lemon masks carbon dioxide and lactic acid that alert mosquitoes to our presence, essentially hiding humans from detection.
Citronella sprays are a natural

Pesticide-impregnated clothing, such as Buzz Off clothing, which is impregnated with the synthetic pyrethroid permethrin. Permethrin is a possible carcinogen. Animal studies also indicate that small amounts of permethrin may cause immunotoxicity, or corruption of the immune system.
Products containing DEET, which is quickly absorbed through the skin and has caused effects including severe skin reactions including large blisters and burning sensations. Laboratory studies have found that DEET can cause neurological damage, including brain damage in children.

Mosquito Plant
The Mosquito Plant is a genetically engineered geranium hybrid with a unique characteristic: it repels mosquitoes! It is easily grown as a potted patio plant, and easily enjoyed for its attractive foliage and sweet lemony scent, as well as for its mosquito repelling powers. It produces a leafy, attractive, foot-tall plant during its first season. The Mosquito Plant was created by a Dutch botanist, who genetically incorporated traits of the Chinese citronella grass into a scented African geranium. The resulting cultivar still had the growth and habit of the geranium, and its sweet lemony citronella scent. Citronella is the substance in citronella candles, which have long been used to deter mosquitoes. It doesn?t harm them, but they don?t like citronella and avoid it. It is most effective as a repellent if you crush a few leaves and rub them on your skin. This releases the citronella and a sweet perfume.

Mosquitoes come out in tropical places around dusk. They are attracted to color and perfume. In Northern Australia they can carry dengue fever whilst in Kenya they can carry malaria. I saw many mosquitoes in the Kakadu National Park. There were lots of other insects too. Some people had nets over their faces and really this was a good idea. In Kenya I wore wrist and leg bands covered a very strong mosquito repellent. It was so powerful that it removed color from some of my clothes. I have had terrible side effects with anti malaria pills. The first time I took them I was in Asia and it affected my eye sight. The second time I took a different type for my holiday to Africa. I quickly stopped taking them because they gave me severe mouth ulcers. I slept under a net to stop me being bitten by mosquitoes in the night. Something almost as bad is the sand fly. They come out to bite during the day. Some people say they don't manage to see them as they are quick. But they feel them. Applying baby oil sees them stay away. Mosquitoes require more chemical preparations to keep them away though.
