I can't log into Yahoo

I have Windows 98 (I know, I need to rebuild my computer)and just installed an older version of the messenger. I, however cannot log in. It will light up and stay light for awhile, but it won't make the connection. I tried doing as the site oldversions.com said and tried to fiddle with the proxy settings, but short of needing a proxy setting (which I have to call about tomorrow) I'd like some ideas on what else could be the problem and what stuff to try. Thanks for the help!

Since Microsoft stopped support of windows 98, Yahoo also stopped support. Our kids computer is widows 98 and they can log into yahoo in basic mode but can not use the instant messenger. But then we don't let them use it anyway so that is not a lose. As was already suggested you could try upgrading to Me or 2000 which is still being supported by microsoft. ( But for how long it is probably not known.)

I think there is no pyour operating problem with your operating system. Even I'm also using windows 98. but no problems...actually Yahoo has started the Beta version which is not compatible with windows 98...it works only with XP or higher versions... just try to change into the basic mode and you'll get it...
