Am I the only one who was *NOT* happy with the Transformers movie?

The name of the movie is Transformers, not "People...and some Robots." The movie focused too much on the people, and not enough on The Transformers. It was nearly impossible to tell one from the other at a lot of points. None of them looked close to their counterpart, other than Op! Megatron looked nothing like how he should. And what was that thing that was supposed to be going through AF1: Ravage? And the police car (which I can only guess was Prowel)? He was an Autobot, so why is he trying to hurt the people? Can someone tell me which Descepticon create holograms? As far as I know, only Hound, an *Autobot* can do this! Correct me if there's a Decepticon that can do this!

While I was watching "Transformers," I had a similar thought... the cartoon was all about the robots, with a little bit of Spike thrown in now and then. Of course, when you're making a live action movie with CGI robots, you almost have to have it be more about the humans--otherwise, why not just make a CGI cartoon? I thought that the movie was good for what it was, and my only complaint about the changes was that I really wanted Bumblebee to be the old style Volkswagen Bug. But I have loved Volkswagen Bugs since I was a kid. :)

Yes, and...make it a CGI movie. They did that with Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. That guy in the movie Gladiator was CGI. And what about The 300? The stuff is there, to make a CGI movie! Hell, I would have been happy, and I'm sure a lot of others too, if they did a direct remake of the Real Transformers movie! The thing was like 85 mins (give or take). The story was good, the songs were cool, and in short, it was a good movie! Hell, they're making a Simpsons in 2D. Make the movie like that! I noticed most people like it, when reading reviews on Yahoo. Some people really tore it apart, but I was taken in by Op. Had a certain 'boyish delight,' esp when Prime said (just like in the Real Transformers movie) "One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall!" But I digress. They just didn't give the transformers the screen time they deserved. And they only had those of Op's time, none of the characters from Rhodums's.

Maybe, the producer and director of the film wanted it to be updated with lates cars as of now rather than settle for what it had been before.. A chevy for bumblebee is not bad after all.. it still is colored yellow and it made him more look classy...

yea i agree with mo1e he probably did all that for new stufff but the police car...., it was probably best to make him be bad so it would go good for the chase scene.

What you said is absolutely true that they focused the movie more on the people instead of the robots. They tried to connect the two but it didn't really work out properly and what you said is true about them not looking like anything close to their counterpart. Well just to sum it all up, I was kinda lost in that movie but it made more sense when I saw it the second time while paying close attention

I didn't really have a prob following the story, and I guess that was the big prob. If I had no knowledge, whatsoever of the Transformers, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more. However, I'm very familiar with them. But on the good side, at least they didn't attempt to make it a Beast Wars movie!

i understand, being that you didnt watch the show, growing up. i wouldnt expect you to know them, being that you didnt write the movie. however, in order to write the movie, the people should know about transformers. there was never any problems humanizing them, ever. the final moments of the battle between Op and Megatron of the REAL movie made this clear. a young autobot, hot rod, tried to stop megatron from cheaply killing prime. however, megatron overpowers him, and shoots prime repeatedly, until he falls. prime doesnt want to shoot, for fear of hitting Hot Rod. then, megatron throws hot rod away, and gets close to prime, to blow his head off. he taunts Op, telling him it's all over. prime swings back, and slams both fists into megatron's chest, knocking him a few levels down, hitting each and every floor. i dont care if you've never seen transformers. to see the noble hero be brutally murdered like that, and to have him defiantly strike back, yelling "NEVER!", that is pretty damn good "humanizing!" i've been speculating with other friends, including those in the art business, and most of them believe it's a copy right issue. just like in comics, and how marvel and stan lee have their issues (which is why he's now independent, though he works with dark horse on who wants to be a super hero), the big wigs dont want to give the due owed to the creators. since Op is the most loved transformer, they gave in so as to keep him true to form, but the rest they were willing to alter, so they wouldnt have to pay the original creators their due.

I understand what you are saying about the focus on the people and not the robots, but I think it was necessary in order to "humanize" the robots, meaning allowing us to "feel" their emotions. I never watched Transfomers growing up and was uncertain as to what to expect, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I don't think I would have liked it as much had it just been about the robots.

i wasn't too thrilled with it either. the original animated movie blew doors off of it. granted,it was cool seeing cgi transformers, but they made a "boy meets girl" type thing out of it.lame.

exactly. the entire transformers series wasnt a boy meets girl thing, unlike some of the 'modern cartoons' appear to be. the only episode i can recall being at all like that was the 1 episode of the Female Autobots. optimud and alita-1, if i recall...

wel they change alot with the police car on the deceptigons and megatron is suppose to transform into a mini pistol but that would look stupid so they made him transform into an aircraft.and the movie focused on both alot the autobots had to stop the deceptigons from getting the allspark and they ended up on earth but the humans were in the way of danger to and optimus prime didnt like humans dying so he protect them and stopped megatron at the same time.

I agree that the movie did focus on the humans rather than the robots ( which in fact should be the center of it).. But in other aspects, the movie did great with good effects and animation.. I expected to see more of the robots that i have seen during my childhood years rather than a few ones.. although the robots image did change due to modern technology, i somehow would have appreciate it better if they have added more action between the atobots and decepticons.

Again, I seem to be in the minority, but for me, the fx counts for nil, if the story suffers. IMO, this story suffers badly. It's not just that they changed Bumblebee to a different car, which I honestly didn't care about too much. Someone was telling me that there was some Descepticon that actually was a cop car, but I can only think of Autobots that were cop cars. Prowl was one, and I think one of the Protectobots was another. I also want to know which Descepticon does illusions, as the only Transformer I can think of to do this was Hound. IMO, if there was more modern technology, then they should be able to pull of the effects flawlessly. Prime is a perfect example. He had some changes to his trailer, and even his robot form, but still had a close feel to his original look. The only other one who I guess had a closeness, that I could recognize, was Scorpinox, in scorpion mode. My hope, when they make a sequel--can't see how they won't, when it's being compared to both Spiderman and Pirates, in terms of the money it's making--is that they follow a lot closer to the Real Transformers line. More on the Transformers. Maybe even toss in some cool Easter Eggs, like Alpha Trion!

1. they had to change up some things and yea humans should be a part of it. but they make the ending sound like there will be a second one so thats when they'll but most of the diifrent kinds of bots plus in the cartoon series megatron wasnt the only big badguy the was an even more powerful one i forgot his name but ill post when i get it.
