I am guessing that this yet another flower that we got from my
wifes boss. It's just started to bloom these white fluffy type
flowers and it's roughly 2 feet tall. The leaves look like long
fat blades of grass. I need some help in identifying this please?
I am hoping it's not another pretty invasive weed. HAHAHA. Any
and all help is appreciated from here.

Yes this IS Liatrus. They come in bulbs and are perennial. You will have them for many years to come.

Well I see you already have your answer- Blazing star- my mom calls it- It is pretty isn't it- I love flowers- and I have to call my aunt and say what is this? she is great with identification. My mom used to work in a greenhouse when I was a little girl- so she knows most of them also.

I am pretty certain I am right. They also sometimes call it "blazing stars", it comes in whites, pinks and purples. Should grow about three feet tall, and should have about 18 inches of bloom when it opens all the way.

Unfortunately I know little about US flowers. But it is quite pretty & should add variety to your garden. I will look at your other responses as I read that gardengurty might know what it is.
I viewed, rated & wrote a comment on the flower.

It is a beautiful addition to an area that was just all weeds last year.

It looks like a flower to me. Now what kind of flower, I don't know. Boy, I am a lot of help, huh. I hate it when those weeds pretend to be flowers. You water them, give them love and bam, they turn out to be weeds.. Sneaky little devils.

Here is a link for you about your flower. It is a type of yucca. I had one in my yard in Greensburg, Kansas. They are really hardy. They grow wild along the railroad tracks close to the town I used to live in. That is the place I saw them most. Heck this is Kansas, they grow all over.

I disagree with you after looking at the site and it's pictures. Mine isn't as rounded flowers and it's not spiny appearing. Thanks also.

hello grandpa bon, this is more of a flower than aweed. Its too beautiful to become a weed. I love flowers and plants and fruits and the like. I was thinking it to be some ground orchids but its what they say it is lyatris.
Happy day to you!
