I bought some flowers today and planted them in a little garden in front of the house. I planted impatients which are purple. And I planted some geriunums which are a salmony color. I didnt buy that many because they didnt have that many. I know its late to be planting them but I dont care I wanted some kind of flowers outside. I love to watch them grow.LOL And thats how I got the poison ivy last week I weeded where I made a garden and my hubby said there was poison ivy in there. I didnt know and I was pulling it all out.LOL Now I know!

I planted some annuals this year hoping to spruce up the gardens for my Son's wedding. Unfortunately they didn't do very well due to the excessive amounts of rain we have gotten. My perennials are doing okay. Wish we could have more sunny days now that we are heading into August all too soon.

You were actually pulling it out! I guess he didn't know it was there either? I have had poison ivy once, but I don't know if I would recognize it right away if I saw it again. Does this mean you got it really bad on your hands, or did you wear gloves?

The flowers sound beautiful Terry. Not the poison ivy, sorry you got that. I love flowers of all kinds no matter what time of year, even some of the wild weeds that grow along the countryside are beautiful to me. Good luck with the poison ivy. Hope you get some relief soon.

Poison Ivy is a small price to pay for the beauty of flowers. If you are new to flower gardening you will learn more as you go.
Check out my 1st flower bed in my profile photos. It will be easy to find there are only 4 photos.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I'm thinking next month of getting some plants myself to hang indoors...I haven't had any real plants for awhile..at one time I had plants galore hanging from each window...close as I'll get for now for a garden since I live in an apartment..but my mom ruined it for me in a way once by saying it looked like the gardens of Babylonia in here...like so what..but what a killjoy--I loved them...uh, how is that itching of yours..any better from the poison ivy

I find that planting flowers at this time of the summer is a great idea because most of the garden store have all their stock on sale. This means getting three to four time the amount of flowers for the price of one. Sometime they look a bit tired but it is mostly because they lack watering. So just be sure to really wet the soil when you plant them. I love impatiens. We always fill all the bald spot of our front yard with them.
For your poison ivy, I feel your pain. There is a natural remedy that really works well :tea tree oil or sometimes it is called melaleuca tree oil. I don't know how your rash is right now but it brings instant relief.
Because if you see a doctor, most of the time they will prescribe steroids and that is never a good idea, in my opinion.
I hope you took picture of your garden. It is nice to look at the pictures the year after and to repeat the same pattern if you are satisfied with the results or to experiment with new one.
