Peanut Butter Extra Salty?

Peanut Butter - That creamy or chunky delight that many make into treats of all sorts and can be made into sandwiches.

Is it just me, or does it seem as of lately that sweet treats such as Reese Peanut Butter Cups and a few other treats that include peanut butter in them have this extra salty taste to them? For the last few months no matter what brand of peanut butter, or peanut butter style treats I get the peanut butter seems like that a more than normal amount of salt has been added to it. Even though I like peanut butter, and treats that have peanut butter in them, this extra salty taste has really turned me away from eating anything with peanut butter on it or in it. So is it just me or have others noticed this to?

Hi Hun, it is so great to see you back! I have missed you TONS! Anyhoo, to answer your question yes I have noticed that treats with peanut butter have been getting more of a salty taste! I always use Kraft Peanut Butter and I haven't noticed an extra salty taste just yet and hopefully I won't! *hugz*

Hey! :) It's nice to see you too and I have missed you as well. *big hugs* I may have to see if I can find some Kraft Peanut Butter here. I am unsure as to whether or not it gets sold in my area since I have not seen it here, but I could always request some to be brought in. It has been really odd for me not to like Reese Peanut Butter Cups, and other such treats, or just peanut butter in general, since those are my favorite treats. But I can't stand the taste of salt that much. A little is ok, but when it's all I can taste it makes me feel a bit sick to my stomach. No sense in eating things that are gonna make me feel sick after eating them. I asked my husband if he has noticed to, and he says that he has noticed it mainly in the peanut butter cups. I have been thinking about writing a letter to the company and asking if they are aware that there product is starting to taste more like salt, than what it is originally suppose to taste like.

Awwwww I feel so loved! Here in Canada you can find Kraft Peanut Butter everywhere lol want me to send you some? LoL. Writing a letter actually sounds like a good idea, then that way they will be aware atleast. We should check into that because I have noticed a difference in the Reese Peanut Butter Cups as well! Have a great day and keep me posted please!

I have noticed that as well with this peanut butter issue. It has me thinking with all the recalls and such that these companies aren't given a crap up their consumers anymore and just getting the product out there to be sold. The extra salty taste has really made me stop buying peanut butter. I can't stand salt to begin with. So why would I buy something that only tastes like salt?

I do know what you mean. I have stopped buying peanut butter cups for that reason. To me it was like eating salt covered in chocolate and that just doesn't make a good combination. Glad to know that I'm not the only that has experienced this.

Wow I can't say I have noticed a saltier taste, but I use a store band peanut butter and maybe that is the diffrence. Maybe brand names are using more for some strange reason.

What store brand do you use? I've tried every brand from Wal-Mart, Krogers, and Houchens; and they all taste like extra salt has been added. I've even gone as far as trying organic peanut butter, and that's an experience I won't soon to be forgetting. Not my cup of tea if you get my drift.

I am sorry your appetite has turned off because they added too much salt in it. Too much salt is not good for us too. But, I have to admit that I like salty peanut butter. Actually I am fond of salty food, that explains why I like extra salty peanut butter.

I use to be a big fan of extra salty foods, but as I grow older my stomach just can't handle extra salty things being dumped into it. Don't now what has changed within my body that makes me feel sick if I eat to much salt these days, but it happens, and I don't like feeling sick after eating.

so far to me I have not noticed anything different. If it was more salty I think I would notice it because I don't like things that are too salty. So I am not sure if there getting more salty are not. I haven't noticed.
