Do You Like Parades?

When I was fifteen years old, I lived in Pasadena. My best friend and I walked to the Pasadena mall from green street the night before and the next day. Why did we take this long trek you ask? To get to the Rose Parade of course. I could not believe how many thousands of people had come from far and near to camp out all night in the freezing cold to see the Rose Parade the next morning. I know that for some people it is a tradition and I personally have nothing against it, accept it is a little more exciting than watching paint dry. The only thing worst than being at a parade is watching it on television when they play it over and over again. Now one parade that is a little fun to watch is the DooDah (can't spell it) parade. I believe it comes on every Thanksgiving. One year, I went to the Hollywood Christmas Parade also. Punky Brooster was in the parade that year. Strangely enough, she is the only one that I remember being there. Now I know that everyone loves parades, so go ahead and tell me about your experiences.

You know I never thought about that. I went to the Hollywood Christmas Parade as a teen and Jesus was never even mentioned. It is really sad. We usually do something special a our church.

Yes, I love parades. So many people so jammed packed on the streets excited with new great shows on the streets and alluring sounds too. Wow! It make ones day great!

Maybe I do not like them because of the crowds. I have never liked being around a lot of different people at once.

It depends on the parade. I love a Main Street Electrical Parade at Disney's California Adventure.

I'm like you I would remember Soli Moonfry, Punkie Brooster, and the crowd but not the floats. I do not go to perades, I get board waiting for something to happen. When it does I seem to be blinking, because I seem to miss it or it is not what I was waiting for.

Trust me, you don't miss a thing when you blink. People like to pump up the idea of going to a parade, but when you get there, it is very disappointing.

My favorite memories of parades come from childhood. Going to the Santa Claus parade with my Mom and grandmother was a special event every year. We live in Manitoba..and our winters are cold. But Mom would bundle me up and off we'd go. There were big stuffed 'toys' wandering down the street shaking hands with all the kids. Fairy princesses rode on big floats and waved...and the magical feel seemed so real to a little kid standing huddle between two strong, loving women. We'd stand together watching, waving, listening to the bands play favorite Christmas carols until at last...with necks craning to see the biggest, best float of all...the one with Santa, his elves and all 8 of his reindeer. What a treat...all these years later the imprinting of those special parades is so strong.

I like parades just not cleaning up the mess after the parade is over.

I used to like parades; however, after being in the Fiesta Bowl parade in Phoenix Arizona, I have come to dislike them. The person behind me stepped on my shoe and the heel of my shoe was smashed down for more than three miles. After that experience, I have not been a fan of watching them.

i love watching the Rose Parade. but im not willing to go and camp out for it lol! watching on the tv is just fine for me. plus that way i get to learn a bit about what type of organic materials the floats are made with. i also like watching the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade..though for the last few times ive been able to catch it..it seems to have more and more "song numbers" with bad lip syncing...ah well. never heard of the DooDah parade..when is that one? and what is it for?

I like parades. When i was young, i was one of the pom pom girls in our local parade. It is fun and people line up in the street to watch the parade. You can feel a festive mood everytime there is one. I still have my pom pom uniform but it won't fit me anymore. It's been some time that i haven't seen a parade.

I like parades too. The ones I have been to probably aren't as big as the ones they have here in the USA. Usually Christmas parades and or Independence celebrations in Samoa were the ones I went to. Lots of fun and kids just love things like that.

I haven't been to a parade in a few years. The ones around here aren't that great anyway and I hate the loud sounds of the sirens on the fire trucks and police cars anyway. I would love to be able to go to the Macy's Parade, but I can imagine how hetic it is there. I can enjoy from the comfort and safety of my house.:P
