Yesterday, half year after we knew each other, my girlfriend asked me to swear to her that I love her foever.I know these words are often said on movies and used to comfort the lover,of course, many people said that in deed. But for me it is really difficult because in my opinion once you promise something you must achieve it trying your best, but in reality, things change within a second, how can I promise to anyone?

ya,dude, i am just like you. I also don't wanna promise anything easily unless I am very confidient to finish it, because you must keep your promise once you make it while things don't always run as you expected. Promise is a kind of responsibilty thing.
I had a same experience as you, and I was supposed to tell her that I love her forever. but finnaly I gave it up to promise that. I can say I love you, but I could not promise that forever thing. who knows what would happen in the future days even though we loved each other deeply at that time. I don't mean I would turn to other girls because I am not a playboy, and I just mean man's feeling might change with time. Also, i don't wanna put too much burden on our love.
If I do love a girl, i am sure to give her my love as much as I can while it does not mean I'd like to make that kind of sweet promise. sometimes, sweet promise means nothing. It seems girls are always glad to hear that forever thing. However, for me,if a girl over-rate that and gives me too much pressure to promise that, I have to give her up.
Good luck to you.

I dont think you should promise that to her. I dated my boyfriend for a year and two months and hed always say that stuff to me, how we were going to be together forever, how he was gonna love me forever. And then once we broke up, it just made it that much harder becuase of all the promises he made that he didnt keep. Im sure your girlfriend just wants reassurance of how much you really love her, but dont make promises liek that, because yah never know what can happen.

So...did you actually tell her that you'll love her "forever"? Do you even love her yet? To be honest, I don't even know what "love" is or how long it lasts. I wouldn't promise anyone I'll love them forever either. lol It's because I like loving someone is just for the moment. Right now you guys are probably in "the moment". But who knows, five or even ten years from now...you might run out of love...not to jinx you or anything. What is forever anyway? I think...I am pretty sure one of you will die before the other...does that still count? Oh MY God, I sound really depressed aren't I? Haha sorry, good luck with your girlfriend by the way. Just make sure your love matches her love...the definition of love I mean.
