My greatest fear when I was a child was a zombie. You know when you were a small child. Your imagination goes wild! Whenever it's Halloween, and I hear Michael Jackson's "Thriller", I really get tense and scared. I even had a plan on how to hide myself if zombies do appear out of nowhere!!!I even had nightmares about zombies. That's how scared I was of them. And when Halloween comes, the tv channels usually features zombie movies. Oh My!

Anything bloody, gory and scary. I did watch a couple of episodes, but that one particular episode that stuck in my mind is about "Bloody Mary". It wasn't done very tastefully, in a sense that Bloody Mary's face isn't supposed to be pale like Sadako from "The Ring". It should actually be full of welts or scars. The part about chanting "Bloody Mary" in front of the mirror 13 times on a full moon part is correct though.

I think I saw that movie, too. It was kind of pretty scary but not that hand-gripping on the seat scary.

True. Basically, I was waiting to be scared until I peed in my pants, but I ended up feeling a bit "cheated"...

Hello jcj_111776, I know how that feels for when I was a small child I am scared of the dark. Ghost, zombies, anything that's in a horror movie I was scared of then. I have trouble going to our room to sleep at night because I was scared. I'd have to sleep with somebody for I am afraid to be left alone and the lights must be left on . If I watched a horror movie then I could not sleep the whole night and would wait for the sun to rise, lying there whole time under the bed covers. That's how scared I was when I was a young kid. I'm glad I overcame it when I grew up. Now I am used to the dark, horror movies, etc.. and won't scare of easily. :-)

Hi eprado. ^_^ I was just like you, too when I was a kid. As what my mother used to tell me, I was making my own ghost! Because I can't stop myself from watching horror and scary movies, but at the end, I suffer from it. Like you, I was unable to sleep. And I was so afraid of every little bumps and noise during the night. Thank goodness, we have finally outgrown that.- smiles-

I get that sometimes, you know. Maybe when I'm too stressed out and my imagination starts running wild. Sometimes when I need to go to the bathroom at the middle of the night, I sometimes can't help but think that I might see "something" in the bathroom mirror.

Yeah, "Thriller" was a pretty scary video, now that I think about it. I vaguely remember there might have been parts of it that I wouldn't watch. When I was small, I was always afraid of the dark. The lightswitch for our basement stairs was low enough that you had to be on the top step to reach it (especially if you were a kid), and I hated having to reach down into the darkness to turn on the lights. I was never sure what would be lurking in the basement, waiting for me! (Of course, there was never anything there.)

I remember when I was still a kid, and I saw the "Thriller" video. I was so scared with the part where the girl was cornered in an abandoned house. And when she looked at Michael, he's a zombie too. I was afraid of the dark too. My imaginations went wild when it went dark.

Hello jcj. As a child, what I was most scared of was ghosts because I used to listen to older people talk about them. Each time I heard a ghost story, I didn't dare to move on alone in the dark. And I sat in the middle of them while they were telling scary stories. If the story was over, I did not dare to go upstairs. Then I always managed to walk in the middle if there were three people. If there were two, it was side to side walk. Thinking of this timidness as a child, it makes me laugh a lot. Take care, friend.

Oh, as I was reading your response, I couldn't help but imagine what you have described. I did the same thing, too when I was a kid. I loved listening to horror and ghost stories, but I made sure I was sandwiched between two people. That way, I wouldn't feel so scared or have to look over my shoulder!

My family have always told me that I love horror movies, horror stories, just about everything that is hair-raising. But I'm the one who's a horror buff that gets scared easily.

When I was a kid, my parents didn't scare me with the boogeyman or whatever monster will come out under my bed, if I don't go to bed early.

My greatest fear as a child was thunder storms! I was scared stiff of them, both the lightning and the thunder itself, I used to run into my mums room with a blanket, pillow and my bear and lie on the floor beside her! Dad used to tell me to get back to bed! But sometimes I got away with it and he didn't hear me come in! I hated it and I used to make my dad promise me it wouldn't thunder if I had to go to bed early! The things you believe as a child! Thankfully I grew out of it, however even now it still makes me jump! It's called brontophobia apparently I found out years ago.

hi wolfie. Now that I'm an adult, I'm still a little scared of lightning and loud, rumbling thunder. My sister was genuinely surprised when she saw my reaction to these things. She said her 7 year old daughter was braver than me!lol!

Hi jcj, until now I still don’t understand what is the reason I am so scared of policeman during my childhood. Or might be they looked rather stern in their dark blue uniform and the pistol as well on their waist. During those days I was about eight. My elder brother and I used to walk to school together every morning. On the way to school or back to home sometimes we might come across a couple of policemen. Very often I would try to hide myself behind my brother if they passed by. I would cry frighteningly and hold the hand of my brother tightly behind him if the policemen approached us and tried to chat a word or two with my brother. Of course my parents would console me and told me that policeman was not bad hat and he would take care of kids. I was not afraid of policeman anymore after some time then. Take care and posting.

Hello ikbooi. I understand your fear as a child. With what's happening to our supposed protectors these days, their good names are usually smeared with malice and corruption. I came to a point in my life where I had complete distrust upon seeing a man in police uniform. All I knew back then was, if ever I come across one, I should flee the opposite way. Because they bring trouble...period. But now that I have grown up, I realized and have accepted that not everyone of them is tainted bad. Sad to say, there are lots of those men in uniform who have turned their backs on their sworn oaths... and that is to serve and PROTECT.

I'm fond of watching zombie lately. By doing this, my wild imagination about them becoming real, lessens. I just keep thinking they are just good actors wearing good make-up and ugly prosthetics.

haha! The added scream effect does make the ghost story more suspenseful. Sometimes, when I hear someone telling ghost stories, I still get goosebumps.

Hey, you'll never know. Maybe they, too were secretly afraid of the exact same thing. But just didn't let it be known. My own son who's almost 5 sometimes refuse to sleep in his own bed. And will do his best to wedge himself between me and his dad.Especially when it's dark, he will make sure that he's tightly sandwiched between us. Somehow lessens whatever he's afraid of.
