I know there are many myLotters who were born after John Lennon died so maybe you have a story of your parents or someone else telling you about it or have thoughts of your own about some other musician who died. I was pregnant when I heard John Lennon died. It was so sad and I cried all night holding my belly thinking of what kind of world my child would be born into. John Lennon's music was filled with so much love and energy for peace, the loss of his life was somthing you could feel almost physically. And so many people felt that. It brings tears to my eyes to think of it now.

It's actually really clear to me as he was shot and killed on my 13th birthday. I was at home in the morning and my sister had just called to say that I should put the radio on as she had put in a birthday request for my favorite song on the local radio station. I tuned in and all they were talking about was his murder. I remember being really upset at not getting to hear my song...ah, the selfishness of being a teenager

Your reaction is understandable. You were a child of twelve becoming a teenager for the first time. That is huge and only happens that moment in your life. I don't think your reaction was selfish at all. It's honest and real. Very much in keeping with John Lennon.
