I just read an article that said a 16 year old girl was banned from wearing her purity ring in school. The school has a no jewelry policy. She argued that the ring was part of her religion and she had the right to wear it. Does a purity ring hold the same status as a cross or star of david?

Whether it is religious or not, it tells everyone, including any guy that may have some ideas, that she is waiting until she is married.
I don't think there is anything wrong with that. When I was a teenager, I would wear a ring on my wedding finger when I had to be in a questionable place to protect me, for it gave the impression I was already taken.
