I'm currently working on developing recipes for a cookbook of soups, stews and chili. I'm just curious as to what type of soups and stews you like? Not looking for recipes, just general types. Do you prefer soup to be heavy on the veggies? Or are you someone who likes it to be broth, meat and noodles? Are there certain things you don't like in it?
Please, share.

It's summer so I'm really digging cold soups recently. You can never go wrong with gazpacho, can you? And a good, chilled cucumber soup is always lovely.
Carrot ginger soup is great too, because it's good hot or cold, so it's entirely versatile.
I also had a chilled strawberry soup at a restaurant once that was so amazing. I've been on the lookout for a decent recipe ever since, but so far all the ones I've found have been pretty disappointing. If you could include a good chilled strawberry soup recipe, you'd be my hero.

I like all different types of soup. I could LIVE on soup. Or at least eat it once a day anyway. Sometimes I like a heavy cream soup like cream of potato or broccoli cheese but I also like clear soups with noodles and veggies and meat. In the winter I make soup weekly and enjoy it all week. One of my favorites is beef barley. My gramma used to make this killer beef soup that had a clear beef broth with tiny meatballs and bowtie noodles. The broth had just a touch of tomato paste to give it color and a bit more flavor.

I like thick gravy soup, with lots of mushrooms and chicken in it. I like other vegetables to be added but it must be in the form of stews. I haven't tried corn soup, but in general I like corn so I guess I would like it too.

My current kick when it comes to soup is taking tomato soup, the kind with actual chunks of tomato in it, not the really thin kind, and adding toasted pita bread pieces to it. I have no idea why this is so good, but I've eaten it like every day lately! =)
Other types of soup I like tend to be veggie kinds as well, now that I think of it. I'm really fond ot potato soup, as well as mixed veggie soup.

I like soups with a lot of different veggies and broth, some noodles, and some meat. I also like to try all kinds of spices and herbs in mine just to add variety. Good luck with your cookbook!

I like soups. I like them filled with vegetables, creating a chunky stew. My favorites are vegetable lentil soup, chunky chicken vegetable soup, minestrone, and vegetarian chili. I usually soup when I have lots of left-over vegetables. Its easy to throw them in a pot and create a big batch of soup.
Furthermore, soup is healthy, easy to make and inexpensive. Its great for cold, rainy days and when you are on a diet, it can be quite filling without being too heavy in calories. I stay away from soups that uses dairy or cream because of that reason. I stick with soups that either have a clear broth or is chicken or vegetable based.

I have many favorite soups, although I don't make them from scratch.
Right of the can is my way!:D
I like chicken noodle soup the best, I love chicken broth.
I also like chunky clam chowder, and I actually had that for lunch today, with fresh baked bread (of course I didn't make that either, from the bakery is my way).
I also enjoy potatoe soup. I have made this from scratch though, and it turned out really good.

I like chicken noodle soup the best. I like it salty and the flavoring is great. You should definitely look up a recipe for that because it's pretty simple to make and is very tasty. I tend to like soup thats more heavy on broth with some noodles and little veggies.

I'm more of a broth, meat, and noodles kind of guy myself. The veggies tend to just be all soft and their flavors blend together, at least in most home-made soups I've had (and no, they weren't bad cooks). My favorite soups tend to be creamy, like cheese potatoes and chicken, or cream/cheese and broccoli. Though, you can't go wrong with any sort of chili. ;)
