Does anyone go camping any more?

As I was updating my blog, I wrote about a memorable camping trip I took as a child. Every summer we went camping, and those trips were the highlight of the summer. Eventually we did graduate from a tent to a pop-up camper, but that's as luxurious as we got. Anything more, my dad considered it not camping. We were not allowed to bring radios or TVs, though that wasn't a problem, since where we went we didn't have electric hook-ups. I also remember going to Girl Scout camp. That was really roughing it. We did not have any running water or toilets. I didn't like those trips at all.
Does anyone go camping any more? I'm not talking about those fancy big RVs with satellite hook-ups and microwaves. What's your favorite camping memory?

That's what I've been curious about, what does "roughing it" mean to everyone? No electricity would be roughing it for me. LOL! Camping on the beach sounds so heavenly. I'll bet sleeping is wonderful. I'm guessing by this you camp in a tent?

I love camping! I'm going to Wyoming (for the first time) with a friend in September. We have a huge 2 room tent that we are going to park on the side of a mountain for 3 days. No running water, except for the ice cold streams. No electricity, unless you count lightening bugs. No roads, except the trails for our ATV's. We are two middle aged women who decided it's time to do instead of talk. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. The whole purpose of the trip? (besides being outdoors) We'll be photographing wild horses and any other wildlife we can find.

As a kid we also tented it. There were too many of us to do anything else but tent it. There were eight kids and two parents. We also had a boat so my dad would take us out fishing. We would take turns and go as a group of three, my mom never liked boats, for about three hours a tour. We all loved to go fishing.
As an adult we started out camping with a tent but as time when on we upgraded to a slide on camper, on the back of our truck. Then when the kids got to be teenagers we bought an RV. We went out to BC in it a few times. Those were the days. But then when gas prices skyrocketed we sold the RV and went back to camping in the slide on camper.
Now my kids are adults and have their own homes. My hubby and I have gone back to tenting again. It is so romantic and cozy, especially when we go to BC. Last year we went for three weeks and it was so much easier to tent it and just carry all our supplies in the station wagon. It was also a lot cheaper.
