How much one needs to sleep?

I usually go to bed at 11 and wake up at around 6 in the morning. But sometimes i have got to do some of my college work or surf the internet and check out my most wanted sites or sometimes i download a lot so then i wake up as early as 3 am. Doctors say 6 to 8 hours of sleep is necessary to keep the body and mind healthy. Its quite true, i know as i feel sleepy if i continue waking up early everyday for 3-4 days regularly so i just try that once in a while. But let me tell you its a pain in the neck but since internet speed is at its best and downloads are real fast in the early morning so i sometimes try and go for it.

Yup I would agree at least 6-8 hours sleep is good. Sometimes I sleep longer than that LOL if I fall asleep while putting my son to bed. I can sleep from 9.30pm right through to 8am LOL long night for sure. Lately though I haven't been able to sleep because my husband is away so since I miss him too much, i find myself in here a lot during the night.

I too sleep late nights to late mornings on weekends and holidays. Sleep seems the most precious thing when you sleep late at night and don't wanna wake up early. Hope you will have a calm sleep too.

usually i sleep for 6-7 hours daily is enough for me unless i was very tired at early night.if you are still feeling tired even after sleeping enough,try to take 15 minutes for afternoon sleep then you can be recover from sleepy.Also change a new pillows may help your neck pain.

Well I don't sleep during daytime at all and i don't get any neck pain either, even after sleeping late. As you said only if one's too tired to stay awake, then only you would sleep for a while in afternoon. So that goes well for me too.

I think one need to sleep for atleast 6 hours infact 6 hours of sleep is enough for a normal and healthy human being anyway never sleep more than 8 hors ,its a very very bad habit then

YA I know its not healthy to sleep for more than 8 hrs but sometimes one just can't help it as holidays n vacations allow you more time to sleep. Even in vacations it may go upto 9 hrs sometimes if you sleep late but it just doesn't feel like sleeping more than that. So thats why everyone says sleep for 6 hours to 8 hours coz the reality is that you just can't go much over that limit.

Being student of biology, I know that a person must sleep for atleast 8 hours in a day but i too often don't sleep for 8 hours. I usually go to bed at 10 p.m. and get up at 5 a.m. as i have to go to my acedmy at 6 a.m. I too come online early in the morning like you as the speed is very well but i sleep at noon now. I think that its better for you to sleep at noon too for few ours as only healthy people can prgoress, work.

Biology student so now you know when i said doctors advise for 6-8 hours of sleep i was referring to you, sweetie the Doc. I agree you have to sleep at noon sometime or the other if you are going to wake up too early like me when i'm surfing the internet early morning occasionally. You too come online ealry so i will look to have a chat with you sometime.

I usually need sleep around 6-8 hours per day. If not I will feel tired during the day. Most people drink coffee to avoid sleepiness but I can't take coffee because I am having gastrics. So the best solution is to have enough sleep, eat healthy and that way I can maintain my level of fitness.

Sure 6-8 hours of sleep is necessary. I too have coffee sometimes but not everytime. You are very much right, have enough sleep and stay fit.

I used to sleep for 7 hours ,but I find it not enough.so now I sleep for 10, and it is too much.SO, now I have no regularations now .....

Straight away jumping from 7 to 10, amazing LOL. Just take 8 hours of sleep that would be cool and just in the middle of 7 and 10 you had before. I usually sleep for 7 hours and it goes quite well for me. Sometimes maybe i take a wink in the noon or sleep till late mornings on sundays, that makes it up for me.

ususally doctor suggests 6-8 hours sleep for everybody and incase you not able to sleep at any specific night, then you can take to sleep after lunch also.usually mine habit is somehow similar to yours.surfing at night and then wake up at early morning.in that case i ususally come early to home and take rest for a while.

I really need a lot of sleep. I need between 8-10h. But I know that some people need less. No one is the same. I know someone who only need 5h of sleep every night and once in a while he will sleep more.

6 to 8 hours of sleep is necessary to keep the body and mind healthy, thats what the Doctors say. I get almost 7 hours of sleep except the sundays when i'm sleeping till late morning. When it comes to surfing the internet late night i get only a few hours of sleep but i do that only once in a while so i manage that and it works well.

going to bed at the sametime each night signals to your bidy that its time to sleep.,waking up at the sametime everyday can also help establish sleep patterns, so try to stick to your sleep schedule even on weekends,.don't go sleep more that an hour later or wake up more that 2 or 3 hours later than you do during the week.,

Yeah Its good to maintainusual sleeping habits but sometimes just can't help it. Be it Studies or Internet sometimes that takes alot more time than u expect so that time you do end up cutting down on your sleep.

If I sleep atleast 3 hours, I'm up and ready to go. Any less than that, and I am horribly tired. If I sleep more than 9 hours, I am extremely tired when I wake up. I try to get 6-8 hours of sleep, but sometimes wake up in the middle of the night for no reason and lose an hour or two off of my sleep for the night. It sucks to be tired when you wake up.

I always go to bed at 10 and wakes up at 5. That gives me 8 hours of sleep everyday. We, adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep to keep our body healthy. If you will notice, when you lack sleep, you easily catch cold, or get sicked.

Well that cold or sickness doesn't happen to me, not coz of lack of sleep atleast. But Yeah Enough sleep does keep u more active and agile so thats the way to go about it. And sometimes maybe everyone has to cut down on sleep coz of one thing or another.

The amount of sleep I need varies. I can go on as little as three to four hours, but when I can, I really let go and sleep for nine hours or so.
I stay up until two or three in the morning because everyone else if sleeping and the world is quiet.

i get on the average of 3 to 4 hours a night sleep most of the times i only get about 2 to 3 hours then it catches up to me about once a month and i just have to sleep and cant wake up. Then when i get that much sleep i feel like i have wasted the day away. we only need four to six hours of sleep a night so why does so many people have to sleep at least ten hours or more?

I'm a total sleep monster and I ideally need about 10 hours of sleep plus 3 mugs of coffee to keep me happy throughout the day. There are times, though, that I can survive with 4-6 hours of sleep.
