I guess it depends on the child. My son is 12 and Autistic, so I find myself making decisions for him. However, He has started trying to make decisions like what to wear and what to have on his food, etc. But, somehow, I don't think he's ready for the tough stuff. Like when to move out. He thinks he's going to live with me forever, which just may happen because of his disability, but I would say that when a regualr child turns 16, they should be made to get a job, learn a budget and start acting like the adult that they want to be. And if they want to move out at 18, let them, but be there for them. As for toddlers, they should be given small decisions at first, like the lady said, the park or going to grandma's. Start easy, then move to the harder stuff. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Well, you begin giving kids small decisions when they are young and hope and pray that by the time they are old enough to make decisions on their own that they are wise enough to make the right choices. By the time they are 17, you have very little control over what they choose to do. By the time they are 18 they are considered adults.
