Will the world end in 2012?

For some reason, it just popped into my head. I guess it was something that I saw on the t.v or something. Do you believe it will happen? I did a quick browse on the topic and I really didn't feel like reading the entire thing but got some points off of that that seemed really interesting to me so I decided to write them down. But the little I've read is that there have been many prophecies which have been predicted that horrible things are going to occur in the year 2012. One prophecy which I read about was a pope, Saint Malachy. He predicted that there will be 112 popes (Again with the 12). They say he fell into a trance and started 112 phrases in Latin. Each was either the popes name, or the characteristics describing this pope. Forget. They turned out pretty accurate until he ended the 112 phrases. Which some people think will be the last pope. I'll also search some other prophecies later on and now when I think more about this, what does this have to do with 2012? Does the new pope get elected in 2012 or what? Another is the Mayan Calendar which comes to an end on 12/21/2012. I don't know if this really means that the world will end or the calendar is 'starting over' and also some things were mentioned with the Winter Solstice but again I didn't want to dig that deep into this topic. What do I think? I have no clue but it will sure be an interesting date when it rolls around and I wonder what I'll be doing that day. What're your thoughts on this topic??
