Ok this may not be quite what you want to hear.. but I have a problem. I dont know whats going on.
Ive pretty much been on my period for about 3 months now. It starts... lasts anywhere between 10 and 19 days... stops for a day then starts again. I went to my family doctor.. he thinks its just my hormones being out of whack from having a baby 9 months ago, but Im thinking its not because my periods were fine after the baby was born. Im not going to say they were TOTALLY back to normal.. they were lighter than usual... but they only lasted 7 days as normal and I always knew when I was going to be on it... right down to the day! Then when the baby was about 6 months old... my periods went out of control... they are ALWAYS heavy and im bleeding more than not throughout the months!
I personally think its something more serious than just my hormones just being crazy... I just dont knwo what.
Any suggestions or ideas? I plan to call around to some Gynecologists tomorrow... since today is sunday i cant do it today.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or have any suggestions as to what it could be? I know its not a birth control issue because I am not on birth control... I got my tubes tied after having my daughter. My family doctor put me on some kind of pills that im supposed to take 10 days every month... i started them today but the bleeding had become heavier since i got on them... atleast before i went to him the bleeding was just spotting.. now its a heavy period all the time! I am just totally drained!
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance..
Dawn

mrs-lidwell i do not mean to alarm you but get a second opinion the reality is it sounds like a fibroid problem or your system it needs cleaning. if you go to the doctor and everything is ok try to do a wonb cleaning every women should after having a baby it could be done by drinking a tea call womb tea its a herbal tea that you drink for a whole month the only problem is that you have to wait until the bleeding stop if you have any question just go to my profile

I agree with chabella1, it seems very important for you to see a gynacologist right away. There are actually any number of reasons this could be happening.Anything from some minor little glitch to something serious. Considering you are only 24 you are definately too young for menopause, which can create the symptoms you are having. Please keep us updated though. You now have me curious and concerned. May God Bless you and help you to a speeedy recovery.

FIBROID= IS fibrous tissue a fibroma that ocurr in the uterine line; i know a friend that had a similar condition so unless you are using some type of b-control pill go and have a check up asap

Dawn, i think you need to have your gynecologist look into wether you have PCO(S) (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom) or not. This is a problem with hormones. It causes irregular periods, heavy periods, long lasting periods, painful periods, weight gain, unusual hair growth, insulin resistance, high cholesterol... It is NOT a fun thing to have and i can tell you from experience. Not all women have all the symptoms. For example, i do not have unusual hair growth and until i got hurt and have facilitating factors, i did not have the weight gain (unless i was on a pill that caused it). To test for PCO(S), they do a simple blood test. No big deal. You doctor might also want to do a physical exam. Fortunately for me, my doctor felt my history and the blood test was enough. GOOD LUCK!

Well I just got off the phone with the only 3 places that have gynecologists... one was the woman that delivered my childrens private practice (when i was pregnant i went to a clinic that was based on income and I was eligible for state assistance at that time but ONLY because I was pregnant), her private practice costs from $150 and UP for just the office visit! Ill have to talk to my husband when he gets home to see if he can afford that right now. The other two places that i called is based on income so I would have to gather up pay stubs (which wouldnt be a problem..) and I would have to find my denial letter from welfare to prove im not eligible for that (which I have ABSOLUTELY NO idea where its at) Plus a few other documents! Even if I would be able to gather up all the information I need... the one said they cant get me in till the second week of August... and the other said they could get me in in August... but wouldnt be seen by a gynecologist until DECEMBER!!!
So im playing a waiting game till my husband gets home so i can see if we can afford the private practice gynecologist... and even with that one i still have to wait till August to be seen! Ugh.
I just thought about this... Ill just try to see what I can come up with fromthe next county over... since thats not that far to drive lol. Ill update when i get done on the phone with them. Thanks ladies!

Thank you ladies! I am making phone calls as we speak. I will let you all know how soon they get me in and what goes on once I am able to get an appointment. Again, thank you all for your input! It is much appreciated.

If I were you I would have a few more opinions before I go on some pills that make you flow heavier. That just isn't right at all. You can never get enough opinions before doing something about it. I learned that the hard way. Did something with just one opinion and now $2000 later it is the same and nothing changed. Should of gotten another opinion before doing it but wanted something done now. Just keep looking for doctors and see what they say. I hope you find out something soon. That can really be a pain.

well these pills were supposed to curb my hormones and help stop the bleeding all the time and instead regulate the periods, not make them heavier... sorry i should have specified

Definitely talk to a different doctor. Something isn't right and even if it's a hormonal thing, he could probably give you something to help even them out. That's one of the reasons they MAKE hormones.
If you were on birth control, I'd think maybe it was that. I had a 6-week long period when I went on birth control last time.

thats the thing... i am on some kind of pill that is supposed to help even out my hormones... thats why he thinks i was spotting for so long in the first place. But since i started taking those pills... the bleeding is heavier. I havent been on birth control since before my son was born... and hes 2 now so its been about 3 years since ive been on birth control.

I had a non-stop period for several months at one point. They never found a reason for it. Your doctor should refer you to a gynecologist, they need to do a biopsy to rule out any nasty stuff.
When I went, there was nothing wrong that they could find. Other than possibly my weight, since fat releases some hormones. I was given a shot of depro-prevera (sp) and it stopped the next day. I did end up having to take a round of birth control pills after that to actually start my period going again, since well after the shot should have worn out, I was still not having a period.
The only side-effects I noticed was that PMS was somewhat stronger. Mostly, the moody part.
I hope you are able to work this out and everything turns out ok.

Hmm, I do seem to remember that heavier bleeding can be a side effect for some women with that shot. For me it worked to completely shut off the bleeding though. I'm glad you are pursuing this with your doctor, it's not a symptom to be taken lightly, and if nothing else, you will probably need iron to compensate for all the extra blood cells you are loosing.

This doesn't sound right at all. You should definitely get a second opinion from a different doctor. I haven't had this issue. It could be something that was messed up from having your tubes tied, it could be from having the baby, it could be from the medicine you are taking, or it could be from hormones. I would definitely ask someone else soon, as it could be something very serious.

Go see a gynecologist. My daughter, who had never been pregnant, had a similar problem with her periods. Only she would skip two or three months and then make up for it in one month. They put her on birth contol and got it under control. It could be hormones but it might be something else.
