"Fortress Besieged" is one of my favorite novels.I've read the book over and over. the novel was written by Qian Zhongshu,a famous chinese scholar and writter whose erudition and scholarly achievements were practically unrivaled in 20th-century China. The title is taken from an old French proverb "marrige is like a fortress besieged:those who are outside want to get in,and those who are inside want to get out".
