This is an achingly beautiful novel of love, guilt and redemption. If you haven't read this book, or the authors second offering A Thousand Splendid Suns, you're missing great books.
If you read Kite Runner by Kaled Hosseni, I'd love to hear what you thought of it!

I think A Thousand Splendid Suns will move you, as much as Dr. Hosseini's first book. It's heart breaking. After you read it, let me know what you think of it. I reviewed it at Amazon, if you want a peek at what I thought of it.

Hiya! These books are about friendship, and the deep hurts people carry into adulthood. The Kite Runner takes place in pre-communist Afghanistan and moves forward through post 9-11.
Amir is the main character we meet as a 12 year old boy, living with his Baba (father) in a beautiful home, along with their servants Ali and Hassan. it's the kind of book that leaves you looking inside yourself long after. Why? It forces you to take a look at all the things you'd like to be and realizing what we'd most like to be seen as: courageous, loving and loyal, aren't in reality even close to what we really are: frail, beset by fears and guilt for our failings.
These aren't dry boring stories, but highly readable and entertaing. The author, Khaled Hosseini, is from Afghanistan, but living in San Francisco, where he is a doctor. His novels both made the NY Times bestseller list for over 14 weeks.
If you get a chance read Kite Runner and share your thoughts about it.
