Did you close your car windows?

I forgot to close a window of my car. It was wide open because before parking I opened it wide and asked whether a guy was moving his car out of a space. 27 hours later, I went back to my car and saw the seats were in weird positions. There was a mess of my stuff randomly scattered inside the car. I was like oh s--- someone stole my stuff. Luckily the only thing missing was my yoga mat. My plate registration or insurance card was not interested. I am happy that the other day I had taken my CD book back home and forgot to bring it back to the car. Otherwise, my favorite CDs would have been gone too. Well, or not since a Diana Krall CD with the original CD case was in the car. Cellphone chargers, maps, an umbrella, and an not-so-cheap Italian sweater were not interested either. I was lucky that the weather has been good. With a window wide open, rain or anyone can get in very easily.

I tend to be pretty paranoid about making sure that my windows are up and that my doors are locked when I leave my car. Of course, we park about a block away from our apartment, and often just leave the car sitting there for a full week before we drive it anywhere. A friend of mine who lives in this area says that the best policy with cars around here is to never leave anything in your car that you can't live without. I think it's a good policy, and I only keep things like an ice scraper and an umbrella in my car, aside from things like the insurance card and registration.

Exactly. I almost decided to leave my backpack in the car. I am happy that important stuff was with me all the time.
