Do you wash your dishes by hand or by dishwasher?

My husband seems to think that there is more work involved in loading a dishwasher, turning it on and then unloading it, putting dishes, plates, cutlery etc in the cuboards. Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy? So little work compared to washing, drying pots and dishes! Sorry but I am a dishwasher fan, I don't like doing dishes by hand. Also I don't have as much confidence in the cleanliness of the dishes when washed by hand. What about you?

I use a dishwasher. I also do some by hand that will not fit into the dishwasher. I agree with you the dishwasher is better in my opinion at getting the dishes cleaner. I feel the heat from the dryer makes the dishes almost to the point of sterilizing them.
Doing dishes by hand you can get them clean and it is better for you if you let them air dry. By air drying them some of the germs die by using a dishcloth you take the germs from one dish and spread them to the next.

I wash mine by hand i always thought that diswashers didnt get the dishes as clean as hand washing. I actually like hand washing them anyways.

I have to agree, your husband is quite nuts.
I was raised washing dishes by hand and had always said "I'll never own a dishwasher, that is just silly" When I moved out on my own, I just happened to have a dishwasher in the house I was buying. I have to say, I fell in love.
As far as cleanliness goes, I actually feel more confident in how clean the dishes are when washed by hand. However, I still would prefer a dishwasher.
If your husband prefers hand washing.. let him do it, even less work for you. :)

I have a dishwasher, a marvellous invention! Not only less labour but more economical of water than hand washing
all the best urban

I despise unloading my dish washer. I always have as long as I remember. But not enough to stop using the dish washer altogether... that would be nuts. I, like you, question weather dishes get clean enough when washed by hand. I am a dishwasher girl..... who just happens to hate unloading it.

I prefer hand washing the dishes. We had a dish washer in our last apartment and when we bought a house without one, I said I'd rather have the cupboard space then a dishwasher. Of all household chores, dishes are the least annoying imo. I don't dry them, that's the rack's job. But I've always felt they're cleaner when I do them then the washer. The washer is spitting around dirty water when it's on the cleaning cycle, and it's all enclosed in there- germs could be growing everywhere. I can wash my sink as often as I think it should be done, apply more elbow grease when I see a dish is extra dirty and change the water as often as I think I should.

I agree with you. While some people might find it troublesome to do the whole "load up the dishwasher" thing, I really wish I could have that burden lol
I don't have a dishwasher so I wash and dry them by hand. Some people let them dry themselves, and I wish I could do that too! Chores..
