I've had several things. The first thing to die in my car was a cat! I lived in Colorado at the time and somehow it got up into my engine to stay warm during the winter, I guess and when I turned the car on the next day, it died! Of course I didn't know it was in there until a week a later when the stench was overwhelming....
Then a few years later I had my car parked in a woodsy area of Washington for a few months while I was in Kyrgyzstan. I came back, had puddles of water in my car and mice poop everywhere! I had to get all the water out and then set traps in my car to catch the mice! We found two of them, eww!! Turns out they chewed through my wires of the engine and I had to get some things replaced.
Anybody else have these weird car stories?

It is a weird story, but does not quite meet your criteria of dying. I have a friend who hates rodents, would never have had one in her house, let alone as a pet. She was a social worker, and drove all over the state. One day, as she pulled up to a stop light, this little hamster scurried out from under the dash, and out the door. To this day she has no idea where it came from.

haha! Perhaps it was a mean joke from a friend? Hopefully she wasn't deathly afraid of them! That would be terrible...then I would feel bad for thinking it was a funny story. I hope she can have a good laugh about it though. I once new a girl who had a phobia of hamsters. She couldn't even look at pictures without having a nervous breakdown.

I was convinced at one point that one of the stray cats near our old apartment or a squirrel had climbed up into my engine. The car was running a little funny for a while, and then it was suddenly fine. Probably, though, it was just the cold that made it run strangely.
There have been a couple of incidents with birds flying into the hood of my car while I was driving on the highway, though. Those always end badly.

I've never had a bird fly into my car while I was driving but I hear people talk about it all the time. The one thing that I hate about road trips is all the bugs that fly into the windshield while driving. By the time you reach the end of the first leg of the trip you have 50 bugs that you have to scrub off!
