Cliques

Every internet group I have ever joined has had its cliques...
Do you know what I mean?
A group of people who have banded together, through an inflated sense of their own importance....the joy of bullying...whatever...
If you dare to disagree with a member of the "in" crowd, you then have the nasty experience of the whole crew descending upon you in fury!
They will bully, ridicule, hi five each other, attempt to drive you out....
These cliques are full of little "in" jokes, comments about how cool "their " members are.....
Newbies are virtually ignored...& it is sad to see them desperately abasing themselves, in an attempt to join the popular clique...
I have left many online groups, because I cannot be bothered with this childish behaviour...I left school many years ago, & have no desire to enter that atmosphere again...
Have you had experience with these online cliques?

I have definitely witnessed this, although I haven't fallen victim to them yet. I don't really get affected by them, I just mind my own business. I think about the rest of the "community" who are not part of the clique and I feel that we are a stronger number.
I also try to be civil to everyone, whether they're in the clique or not.

I have definetly witnessed it. I have experienced it to some degree. I don't worry about trying to get with "the in crowd" so I can't say that I've been victimized by it. If someone doesn't like me, generally I just move on.
I try to be a friendly person to everyone. Some people are more accepting than others.
People who are pretentious and full of self improtance aren't the type of people I choose to socialize with, so I don't worry about it much.
