I Got A New Screen!

I got a new screen for my computer on Saturday. My other one was from my previous computer and almost 5 years old. I recently started having trouble getting the screen to come on. It got steadily worse day after day to where I wanted to smash the darn thing (though I didn't). :P It got so bad that it litterally took a couple of hours to get it to come on. Finally my husband told me we need to get a new one and I agreed, though I didn't want to spend the money for it. :P So I drove to Wal-Mart with my youngest son and with my husband's help through the cell phone we decided to get the a 22" LCD widescreen by ProView. My other screen was an 18" flat panel and nice, but it wasn't a widescreen. The first night my kids and I watched Finding Nemo on it (we must have seen it a hundred times by now LOL) and it was great being able to see it on widescreen without those black lines on the top and bottom of the screen. :P Then yesterday and today my husband hogged it, even though he has a laptop. LOL Well at least I have a screen that works now. My other one was giving me a headache! :P
So, have you ever kept your old screen after getting a new computer? Or do you have to have everything new? Or are you still on your first computer? Please share your thoughts.

I think you are talking about your monitor correct? The computer monitor? I have never had one go prior to buying a complete new computer- But I see that they sell monitors, and hard drives separate. I have never kept any part of my old computers- I donate them to the salvation army- I always make sure it is all there prior- and I have it cleaned- wiped out of my junk- I’d love a widescreen screen- we don’t watch any movies on ours- but we would if my screen was bigger-

Yes, I am talking about the monitor. I got a new desktop PC (without the monitor) a few months ago because my previous one stopped working altogether, though at that time my monitor was still working great. I've watched movies on my old screen, but it's so much better with my widescreen. I love it! :)

Way to go sacmom. We use a laptop and just bought a new one a few months back and it has a bigger screen. It is nice to be able to see everything more clearly and more focussed too. Enjoy the new screen!

Thanks maddysmommy! I am enjoying my new screen so much! I bought a laptop back in March along with a desktop PC since my old one went out on me back in February. But I prefer my desktop PC, even more so now with my new screen! :D

Congratulations on getting your new screen. It sounds like you and your family are enjoying it very much. Maybe sometime I will be able to get a larger screen for my computer but for now I am happy with my 17 inch flat panel screen. When I have gotten a new computer, I have replaced the monitor as well. My next computer will probably be a laptop so I will not have to worry about another monitor. I gave my last monitor to my parents since they needed a monitor for their other computer.

Oh, we are! It's nice to have a screen that is not only a widescreen, but one that actually works! I was getting really tired of taking the time to get my old one to come on. I'm so glad my husband talked me into getting a new screen. If he hadn't I probably would have given up on trying to make my old one come on by now. :P

Unfortunately, but fortunately my computer is all new. I had just upgraded to a new computer when a fire took everything I owned. Dell was fantastic and has gotten me back to computing in real good time. Also this is my second new same computer that I had to get from them. With Vista it is awesome and with a flat screen I am content on the whole with my computing ability.

Tell me about it! And with my old screen going out it made it a pain in the butt to get online. I couldn't even let my kids play the pc games they wanted to play, which made the situation even worse. Well, hopefully I won't have to worry about such a problem again for another 5 years (though I hope it will be even longer than this :)).

Hi Sacmom, congrats on your new monitor. It sounds like it was about time. A new monitor can make an old computer seem new again. The monitor I have now is working on its second computer and its still working fine. I have a 17" lcd screen, its not a wide screen but thats okay. Take care, Terry

Hi Terry. Actually I had to replace my 5 year old computer a few months ago, so I guess the screen that came with it was bound to go out too. I was just hoping to get a little more use out of it (say another year or so ;)) before having to get a new screen. Even though I bought one sooner than I wanted to, I'm glad I did, for I am enjoying it so much! :D

Good for you hon! I'm jealous of the screen you have. I am using a 20 inch standard monitor that was given to us last year. The old one was a 15 inch, and when we started up this one, I had to actually sit back in my chair because I wasn't used to the bigger picture. But we still have the same tower that we originally bought six years ago. I am hoping to get a whole new computer very soon though, or at least be able to upgrade the tower.

I still own an 17" Screen although a flat screen would be nice... I think a 19" would be great!!!

funny to think that my first pc came from a garbage heap and even more mad to think that all the upgrades so far have come from similar heaps!(exept hard drives and silly bits) even got a flat screen now. nice that technology here in uk is that disposable.
