hi gemmoney..
im from Philippines and i am now waiting my Australian student visa to be approved by the embassy.
it is my mom who will support me to my australian dream.. she wanted me to find some scolarship since it really costs her too much. but despite of the big amount to be spent, she is still very supportive.
i think on my case, i am still as preasured as a scolar. my grades must be on good condition and everyone is looking after me. people here at my town are expecting too much from me and if i fail they might blame my parents to my failure.
another pressure is this... its my mom who will support me at my first year of studying, after that... it would be me alone who will pay all the expenses of my study. i need to work hard for this dream but i am sometimes afraid of the things that might happen. i will be away from anyone i used to live and ill just be having new friends... its difficult but worthy to achieve.
thanks for this good discussion... i wont forget to rate this... i promise..
have a nice day...:)

If someone or some organization offers me scholarship to study abroad, I will never say no! Why would you spend your own money when you can have someone paying for your school fees? It's a lot better. Especially when you're still depending on your parents for your life expenses. It helps them saving money. It allows them to use the money that should've gone for your school fee if you weren't under a scholarship for some other things.
I guess no one will chose to study abroad by their own money if they could get scholarship. Unless they are extremely rich.

scholarship is good, but if you can both choise, which one will be choosed? You can lent money from your parents, and give money back to them when you have a job for example!

It really depends, if I have tonnes of money, I can use somwe of it to study abroad. Although in my opinion, it's nice if someone else will pay for your education. Recieving a scholarhip also adds reputation to students, becuase it usually means that the student is brilliant enough to be awarded a scholarship. So if you think you can get one, go ahead and try to get it, scholarship.
Keep safety!

I prefer,it is not just because that means I can study there free of charge. I could get the scholarship because I am qualified for it and the school thinks I am promising so they gave it to me.That will encourage me study with more efforts and give me confidence ,that is especiall important and heplful to a student from abroad.
On the other hand, if you have not got the scholaaship and go abroad by your own money, you may bear much burdens which are not hlepful to your new life except that you are in a rich enough family. Moreover ,in the new enviornment you have to earn enough money foy you daily and other fees.As a common student ,it is quite difficult.

if i had the chance to choose, i'd rather study abroad by my own money so that i can not have any pressure in my mind that i must maintain my grades so as to have that scholarship.. I have been a scholar since 1st year high school but it's no easy for me because i get to be so damn pressured about it.. thinking you must maintain a good grade and a good character, and also joining in extra curriculkar activities is a must.. it sucks.

i prefer studying abroad using my own money because scholarships are a lot of pressure. what if i failed, or didnt meet the required grade, they will hold off my scholarship. but if i use my own money, i will know for myself the burden and will strive not to fail

Fristly,I have no enough money to support myself in studying abroad. SO I will choose the former.
Secondly, If you think it's a burden for you to receieve others favors, then, probably you are under mental sickness.hehe...Kidding!
Everything we do could be seen as investment, the motivates are included as: meeting our needs, self actualization. Why not use your own money to expand your experience in more optional way.

I prefer to study abroad by scholarship. It means a lot more to me, when I qualified for something. And studying abroad by scholarship challenges my intellect, creativity and my skills on how I deal with other people and how I promote myself. It is also a test of my character as I set foot into unknown grounds with myself knowing that I qualified for a scholarship and am going to be representing my benefactor for doing so, It is something I'll feel very privilege to experience. And it has also been a dream for me to study abroad under scholarship.

I would be very happy if someone or an organization offer me scholarship to study abroad!Because I don't have so much money to support my study abroad.
As a young person,it's good for us to have a look abroad. There are so many countries in the world.Different countries have different cultures and different backgound. We'd better try to know more about different cultures, then we can understand others better.Sometimes culture shock is interesting, but sometimes it can cause misunderstanding.I believe we'll understand each other as long as we know each other's custom and traditional culture.
