I am going to university this autumn. I am a tomboy to some extent. I like having fun with boys and girls as well.
Actually, I have been thinking about changing my appearance and turn to be a real girl. But I don't know where to start.I am totally puzzled. Can you help me?

What is wrong with all you people? I see so many threads on here about parents wanting to make their girls more girlish or people wanting to become more girlish.
What is wrong with what you are?
Yes, of course uni is a great place to break out of your shell. But that's to remove yourself from the shackles of expectation that have grown up around you... not to kowtow to a new set of expectations... to become like yourself, not less.
Sod what the world and his dog thinks... be who and what you are and you'll be one step closer to happy.

Hey there. It is very simple if you want to make yourself more like a real girl by letting your hair grow as long as possible. Oh, sorry. I mean, if you want to change your appearance, you can wear long hair and wear skirts. lol.

I grew up a tomboy. I spent most of my school years with short hair, wearing flannel shirts and sweatpants, always had a hackey sack with me and tried my best to skateboard. When I went away to college, I recognized the opportunity to have a 'fresh start'. No one knew me. Living with so many girls you kind of kick it up a notch. Not to mention all the pressure to attrack guys. All the other girls seemed so much better at doing their hair and nails and so on. You know what stood out to the ones who became my friends? The fact that I was able to be me without all the goop and guk. I did grow my hair out and start to wear nicer clothing, but, guys always said they liked that I didn't worry about my appearance. To this day, my husband tells me I'm beautiful ALL the time. Of course, I do amp up the girly side when I want to show him I've still 'got it'!
If you're really stuck, maybe take a look at your favorite female role models?? Did that help any? Best of luck to you. Just be yourself and you'll SHINE!

you can do it by acting and expressing yourself in a girly way and be sure to act like a girl not a tomboy

I just want to say that you don't have to change your appearance. There is room for all types at college. Actually, a lot of the girls look like tomboys in college because you tend to dress down and be as comfortable as you can be. But, if you want to make a change for yourself I suppose you should start at the top - with your hair. Wear it down, change the color, grow it out, buy some new accessories. They say when a woman goes through a big change her life, the first thing she usually does is change her hair. I guess it's like liberating yourself from your old hairdo and moving on to something new. Good Luck!!!

You do not have to change! being a girl does not mean that you have to look or act a certain way! Just do the things that you enjoy doing. You are doing a favor to the world not acting like a "girl" as those kind of girls are not really helping the world, they are only trying to be attractive to boys! There are as many different kinds of girls as there are boys! Be yourself. You are special!
