Is labradoodle a good pet for small child?

I am thinking about getting a labradoodle for my 8 years old boy, but hesistated because this is fairly a new breed. Also, my concern is that this type of dog (especially labrador retriever) is stubborn with training.
Does anyone own one and can share with me your real life story? The puppy we picked will be ready in 2 weeks.

My parents have had that type of dog all their life and they have three children. It has never been a problem, they are very calm and patient animals. Probably the best choise to have with small children.
