Are there some colors you would never paint a room? I am sure I would avoid black, but it probably has its place somewhere.

When my son lived at home he wanted his room painted dark purple. I figured I could always cover it up someday, so I painted it. Lo and behold, when we sold the house, the new owner said she particularly loved that purple room.

To one dark purple is hideous. To another, it's beauty.

Black would be odd unless it was for a home theater or something like that. Hmmmmmm maybe bright orange wouldn't be my first choice either.

I don't think all bright oranges would be bad... a neon orange or a pumpkin orange might be though! Black might be neat if you did up kind of a basement rec room for the teenagers, or as a party/entertaining area. Add a bar, sound system, big tv, lots of trim and shelving and posters/paintings to break up the black, plus attention to lighting... it could work. Not just anywhere though!

Orange mustard yellow would be the worst, don't you think?

I would never paint a room bright green again... aghhhh! I painted my cousins room that color & let me tell you we had to do about 5 coats as the paint was ment only as an accent color and we got some on the celing.. it was not to pretty I tell you. I would also not paint a room in gray as it is to dreery/gloomy. I do not like white either... it is to common and it hurts my eyes!

Some good reasons. I never thought of white hurting the eyse, but I can understand that.

I belong to a country, where homelessness,is rampant(about 30%).People live in mud huts(well about 30%).About 30% of the people do not have anything to eat,and would consider themselves lucky,if they can have 2 square meals(vegetarian) a day. In a country, notorious for mud huts, the general population does not think of "painting' at all. That is for the rich folks. My house,is given a lime coating every three years!

I would never paint a room orange or pink. I had my bedroom painted black when I was a teenager. It actually looked quite good and I had a bright bordr to brighten it up but I always had a good nights sleep as it was so dark!

I think sleep would be great in that dark room, but you are right about the rest of the time.

The color my bedroom is currently painted should never be used - by anyone. LOL! It's true, I thought it was going to be a dusty mauve. It turned out to be a purple - kind of like bruise. It's horrible and it's dark. I've just been too lazy and disgusted to paint over it.

A bruise is such a descriptive color. Now when it turns that funny-ugly-bruise-yellow, then you might want to get another can of paint.

Not a brown that is too yellowy... any browns that resemble certain substances that I am too classy to name *poses classy somehow* do not belong on walls.

I would never paint a room black or any other REALLY dark color. I try to use all lighter colors. It really does help the room look bigger.

I could never do pink. I know there are tasteful pinks out there, but I loathe the colour, especially on walls. *Shudders*

You have to love the people who will paint their walls a strong pink, then get floral furniture, floral draps, floral vases and pictures of flowers, and hundreds of knick-knacks and place them everywhere. Those rooms scare me!
