You've just won 500$!!!

Yeah, I just received a mail from yahoo saying I've won 500$ they give randomly. They say they can pay them through moneybookers, paypal or egold. All nice and swell but when I hit the "pay me the 500$" button they told me that the offer was available only for premium members and I could only get my 500$ if I become a premium member for the sum of 8.75$.
Now ... giving almost 9$ for 500 seems nice but... could it be a scam?So my question is... has anyone else got this and even get the money?
Please help my dilema:)
Thanks:)

Thank you so much!
Aaa... how did you get in contact with the yahoo team? I want to send them this email. Maybe they will send out a newsletter telling people not to fall for this.

I receive these all the time. They are scams. If a company was really going to give you money then they would contact you by phone or by postal mail and not your email. I would email yahoo and tell them about it. You should also be careful about scams that come in the postal mail. I received a check for over two thousand dollars. I took it to a bank and asked them if it was real. It was a scam and i figured that it was. They said that if I would have cashed the check, the people would have access to my personal information and that I would be responsible for paying them back. You need to be careful with these things and always double check yourself and ask yourself why you might have gotten this. If you can;t answer your question, more than likely it is a scam.

Almost everyone is receiving this kind of mail. It is a scam! If you answer to this email, you will easily find that you need to put up a big chunk of change to receive your prize. The problem is that you'll never receive anything.
Don't try opening emails from sources you don't know. If you do, the scammers will know your email address is valid and they'll sell it to every other scammer in the world. Do not give your personal information whatsoever.
Delete all suspicious emails and block the sender right away. You will surely receive more spam or bulk mails because the scammers use many different names, but that's better than losing a lot of money.
you can check to see if any emails you get are scams at

I dunno...it would be nice to believe wouldn't it? Of course they have a catch on backup...paying $9! I get things like that in my email too. The only thing that makes me wonder is that they mention PayPal and those other ones. I've never seen that before in an email. Good luck and I hope you really won that money!:)

Yes, it's a scam. If you look at the URL it goes to when you hit the Pay Me button, it is NOT Yahoo, though it may look just like it. They will ask you to 'confirm' your details and, of course, harvest your username and password and your bank details as well.
Either delete it completely or tell Yahoo about it.

Yes, it is a scam. Delete it and move on my friend. By all means do not give them your paypal or other account information. It is a good practice to just never give out that information unless you have initiated the contact or communication.

Hi liana_pescarus! Oh dear, it is definitely a scam. Any raffle or contest would never ask anything in return for a prize that is legitimately won. So please just ignore it. There are a lot like this using reputable companies for their illegitimate raffle or whatever they may call it.
