so i know many people get addicted to things that although will not kill them can mess up their lives. for example in video games some people become so addicted they play 24/7 356 days a year.
so, how do you cure an addiction???

It probably seems like the most obvious answer, but... distract yourself.
Do something "healthy" like go out, for a walk, to catch a movie, hang out with friends etc.
Anywhere that you won't be able to access your addictive video game even if it is your deepest desire.
I was battling with the same 'demon' not long ago, unable to tear myself away from my laptop and its speedy broadband connection that had all of the best games at my fingertips.
So i took on board some more responsibility. I started being the household cook, and i applied for a few jobs, eventually landing one in retail.
It can be a surprisingly hard habit to break, but once you have something else to occupy your time, you might actually find that the desire to be gaming diminished significantly.
I can actually limit myself to 2 or 3 hours now, whereas before I could spend 15 hours straight online and not notice.
Goodluck.
