If so, I'd like to hear what treatments work best for you. Also how you manage it to keep them comfortable.

My daughter is 9 years old and I have taken her to the doctor hundreds of times over her eczema. The doctor has put her on steroids, given her hydrocortisone creams, special soaps, prescription lotions, and a liquid prescription that is supposed to stop the itching from the inside. The only thing that I have found that works best for her is, after she gets out of the shower, put lotion on her (neck to toe) without drying her off. It smooths her skin (which feels like sandpaper year round). It also moisturizes her skin and relieves the itching.
I hope this helps.

My daughter is 10 and that is the only thing that works for her now, putting lotion on after the shower.
We have tried all of the prescription cremes, but she says that it burns her skin and refuses to put it on her.
I do have to say that her eczema has gotten better over the years, but she is going to have some scarring on her hands due to a negligent doctor that was telling us to do the wrong thing.
That doctor was telling us to only use the hydracortizone creme and that would be fine. Well, to make a long story short her new pediatrician said that hydrcortizone creme was causing her skin to break down because it has some steriods it and you're NOT supposed to use it on a regular basis. So, now her hands look wrinkled and are a light pink color.
But other than that, she seems to be handling it pretty well.

I just recently took my daughter to the doctor for yet another contact dermititis issue involving her eczema. Found out that she is allergic to the hair conditioner we were using; so where ever her hair touched her skin was broke out -- neck, chin, chest, back of the neck, arms--
The doctor put her on Claritin (probably for life). The doctor said that it will help her as far as the allergies since she can't sit in the grass or play in dirt (which she abolutely loves to do). She also can't get in the pool if there is even the slightest thought of algea or pollen in the water or she will come out looking like one giant welp. (she has to take Benadryl before she can go swimming).
However, my daughter has never told me that any of her creams burn or hurt her. Guess we have just gotten lucky on that issue so far. We also do not use the creams every day, just when she is itching and only on the spot that is bothering her.

Yep I myself have had eczema for about 10 years I have found that getting out of the shower and then PAT drying myself with a towel and then while I am still damp applying lotion. If not then you end up rubbing your skin right off and it becomes raw.

I've heard that there are different types of eczema. Some disappear in early childhood. One of its kind prevail till teenage or even later. I believe it strongly depends on the type of skin, climate, food habits and heredity. I have also heard that eating lot of sweets is not good for those suffering from eczema.

There are differnt types of eczema. Most babies who suffer from eczema do outgrow it by about primary swchool age. That is what I am hoping happens with my little man!
I use QV Bath oil and no soaps or shampoos at all, QV moisturiser works well, except on the torso, I need to keep looking for other things that will work as well!

I've come to this post since it will attracted me most since my 8 years old kid have an eczema this time. We come to the doctors many times, she gave us medicines to take including soaps and ointments to refrain the kid from itching. The medicine is good but I have found that it only cures for sometime and then returning it again and again.
One thing we have noticed also was everytime my daughter wear a rubber shoes thats the time it was become fresh again ( the wound ).We then refrain her to eat foods like chicken, fish, eggs, and other foods family that can cause allergies but still it was in there.
If somebody can provide advise about their experience pertaining to this kind of disease, let me know and I will thanks for them.
