Dear friends I would like to know whether you like to be pampered by others…here on Mylot and in your real life? Pampered’s dictionary meaning says – getting attention and care. I hope everybody likes to be pampered. I would like to know what methods and tactics do your adopt or employ (intentionally or unintentionally) so that you could be pampered by others. For example, some are very courteous in their behaviour, some remain very polite, some remain very diplomatic, some speak a lot and some of us remain silent to get care and attention of others. I would much appreciate if you answer my question in details and descriptive manner. Please share your thoughts, views and experiences with me.
Thanks in advance.

Umm…difficult to say. All of us like to be pampered and I am no exception. I would like to get care and attention from others but when that actually happens, I am not very comfortable with it. I feel extremely shy and want to run away if the spotlight ever falls on me and people are generally fawning over me for any reasons whatsoever. But I have seen many people, specially women, who maintain an air of ‘damsel in distress’ so that people around them are always pampering them and showing their concern for them. Such people love all the attention they get, whether deserved or undeserved. They generally try to project themselves as novice, timid types…who don’t understands situations correctly and are thus often misunderstood themselves. They would like you to sympathise with them, pamper them and get their work done for them. I dislike such people. If you really want someone to do your work for you, just say so straight and pay for it…whether in cash or kind. But that would take the aura of innocence out of such people.

offcourse..but expect pamepering only from my loved ones.I like to care and to be cared..
i get pampered from my parents and brothers without doing any such acts to get their attention. But with friends i move politely and care them to get attention. Its not only to get their attention towards me but its the development of friendly nature.

I would say it depends on why I'm being pampered. If it's my birthday, yes, I expect it! LOL! It doesn't happen very often, however. I STILL do dishes, and wash clothes. My kids are too young to cook, and DH seems to be at work on my birthdays. So, I'm waiting for the day that I can be pampered.
Otherwise, I really don't like it. I don't like people jumping at my "command." When I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago, my kids and DH were bringing me water, food, books, telling me stories, etc. All I really wanted was to get up and walk around. I enjoyed the attention, but it got really tiresome after a while. :)

Hi friend, intentionally or unintentionally I don't like to be pampered with others.
For me I just show my true feeling and who is really me with others. I don't like show my self as a different just to be pampered or just to pleased others.
I'm a very simple person, I laughed when there's a joke to be laughed I talked If I have to talked to and explained If I have to explained and I argue too If I have to defend my selves. If someones impressed of what I am, I'm highly appreciated it so much but I don't want to be pampered I feel shy of it.

Hi Deepak! Infact I would feel at a loss without all the pampering from my near and dear ones. I am lucky to have a lot of people in my life who would pamper me all the time. Some of my friends says that i bring out the protective insticts in them which makes them want to protect and care for me. I love all the attention I receive. There are some friends in my life who treat me like a kid and worry about me. One of my collegues carry food for me from her home every day!!!!

Dear, what a lovely and wonderful response from you. I appreciate your thoughts. ....like as you say - "you would feel at a loss without someone pampering you."
Yes, without meeting you..I can endorse sitting here, that you bring out the protective instincts in your friends and you care about them a lot.
Actually, you must yourself be very nice to your near and dear ones...and their appreciation and acknowledgement for you....is reciprocated by pampering you.

i don't like much to get pampered by others. sometimes this is even annoying! i just want people to make a sense in the atmosphere that they care for you and do not show this in their behavior too much. sometimes people feel less but show more. i don't do anything in particular to get attention. if i am generating attention without doing anything then i don't need to do anything!;)

I love being pampered especially if my husband is doing all the pampering. It is nice when it comes as a surprise too. I do go out and get myself pampered at times like manicure and pedicure and the occasional hairdo when i feel like a treat or something to lift me up when I am feeling down.
I like to pamper my husband too after a long day at work by massaging his head and or shoulders. That seems to be the time where we sit and talk about his day and lots of other things.

lol. Who does not like to be pampered? The moment a baby enters this enchanting world, he is being pampered. We all know that whatever we do consistently for two weeks, it comes a habit. A baby is being pampered till he becomes a toddler. As toddler, he continued to be pampered. Needless to say, he grows up a pampered child. All he needs to do is to wail and whine. In my opinion, being courteous, polite and diplomatic does not gets to be pampered.
Ever heard of this chinese ruse used by ladies. "1) Cry 2) Create Havoc 3) Hang Onself". This is bound to get the care and attention of others, especially the guys. How apt :p

I have mixed thoughts and feelings about this question. I feel like I should be saying with enthusiasm yes of course I love to be pampered; and i am sure I would if the situation were right. Like maybe I had gone through a hard time in life and needed that extra nurturing. On the other hand I just hate the thoughts of being pampered when there is no need for it. If someone were pampering me all the time I feel like I would be saying get away from me go do something nice for someone who needs it. Yet I have to say I am pampered all the time by my husband in the way that he is so helpful all the time or surprises me by letting me sleep in late and when I wake up the whole house is cleaned. So that is a kind of pampering. I have to admit I like that when it happens. Now that I think about it I am pampered a lot. If pampering means someone helping you out by doing things for you that you would normally do for yourself.

Preeti, I make it a point to respond to my friends' discussions, as much as I can...because they also reciprocate and it is always great pleasure to share my thoughs with great friends like you.
It is your greatness...when you say...that I care. From myside I try my best to take care of all of my dear friends.
Preeti, you are such a sweet person....even if you do not tell me...that your b/f pampers you a lot....I can visualise that .....you are being pampered by him a lot.

Of course. I mean you wouldnt want to get spoiled. On MyLot AND in real life. I mean I think every child had their ways of getting what they want from their parents. Your just born knowing how to get things from them. lol Now as an adult, I am naturally a quiet person and I don't use it to get attention. I dont know. I guess it depends on the person I'm trying to get to pamper me. The things I would do.

I think everyone has an internal inclination to want to be cared for or cared about by another. I enjoy being pampered, but I don't enjoy being the center of attention. I don't like everyone hanging on my every word, waiting to hear what I have to say next, it makes me uncomfortable, and it makes me feel forced to perform, or entertain them. I would rather be left alone, or be in the company of one to 3 close friends. But when it comes to relationships, I want my mate to treat me with as much love, care, and consideration as I treat them... this has not yet happened. I think that its because there are too many spoiled/selfish people out there, and they only expect to receive and not give. There is nothing wrong with receiveing but you must also give to keep the other person from being drained out. Ever hear of the term "equivalent exchange"? Kinda like karma everything comes back around, or, balances itself out eventually.

My way of pampering others (and hopefully getting the same in return) is to treat them with the respect, kindness, and caring that I would want to be given to me. To me, being cared for in that way is one of the best forms of pampering I know. That and maybe a few hugs--real or virtual--added in for good measure. ;)

I say who doesnt want to get the attention of all the people around??
We all want it in some way or the other. But then also there is a limit to how much attention we want. You see, when we get more attention we get more pampered and this results in our spoil nature. Now this is what that i dont want.
Everything in this world is good for us and hence we all should try to get it. But more of anything is never a good thing.

Of course, everyone of us enjoy the blessing to be cared by others. I love it, when someone who always checked on me if i had my lunch, if i am okay, and where i have been, what i am doing, even in text messages only, it gives me happiness. One of my joyful moment. Much more if that person is my special someone. But on the other side, i am more of a giver than a receiver. When a person is special to me, i am the one who like to take care of them. I like to be a servant to the people who are important to me.
