I am using Yahoo messenger but a friend recently switched to Skype, she said voice chat is clearer and she's asking if I could download skype too.
What do you think? I am hesitant because downloading such would eat a lot of space.
Are you staisfied with Yahoo messenger?

Skype is good but i prefer yahoo messenger bcoz most of my friends use yahoo messenger.. I don't think space on disk or RAM can be a prob..512 mb ram with xp is enough.

My problem with Yahoo! Messenger was instability. It kept crashing. Skype is more stable, and yes, the sound is clearer. Skype was designed primarily as a VoIP. Essentially, Skype is VoIP with IM capabilities, while Yahoo! is IM with VoIP capabilities, if you catch my drift.

I have MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger and do not need another since I do not chat a whole lot. Emails are fine by me and everyone seems to want a webcam. That is something else that I do not have a use for. I have heard of Skype and not sure it is something that I really need.

i would still prefer to use the yahoo messenger than skype becasaue of its memory usage. yahoo uses up lesser RAM than skype although both have the same features. i tried installing skype with my 256Mb memory but it just hanged up and i couln't continue. so i just got rid of it and re-installed my yahoo messenger instead. i did not encounter any technical problems with yahoo messenger and everything seems doing well. i can chat, join in a voice conference and at the same time can view my friends with their webcams.

Well, i had tried skype and yahoo. Yahoo messenger encounters a lot of trouble when it comes to voice chatting, however it offers low rates when it comes to pc to phone call, yahoo team troubleshooting problem is on-going so they always welcome comments and customers who needs assistance on voice chat problems. For the skype, voice chat is clearer, i think they have lesser user compare to yahoo that's why the voice connection is clear. It's up to you which one would you like to use. If you will frequently talk to your friend who use skype, well i guess it is alright to download skype. Anyway, if you wished to uninstall skype from your pc you, it free for you to do so. Happy chatting =)

At the beginning I used yahoo messenger. I found that the conversation was not so smooth and sometimes it broke. It was a bit noisy and could hardly listen as the voice was distorted sometimes. After I was told that skype could serve better here I then tried it out. I found that it was really true. Now I could get satisfactory effect by using skype.

I have both softwares and both are doing good. Yahoo messenger is very common here in asia specially philippines so i have one account there for friends here in philippines. I use skype for friends in other countries. Yes as what you have said voice calls are much clearer in skype and cheaper calling long distance comapre to yahoo. Yahoo voice calls is okay of your calling ym to ym but in skype its still clear even if your calling a landline or cellphone.

Ive never used Skype. I dont think any of my friends have it either...(?) I like yahoo messanger. Im used to using it so it works for me. Gawd, Ive been using it for about 7 years now. I like how they have the new feature of letting you add your buddies from Msn ect to the list and only have one messanger. That let a big load of from my computer.

We have been using Skype for quite sometime now. We live in the USA and talk to people in the Netherlands on a daily basis. The voice quality is superior to Yahoo messenger.

Generally I use Yahoo Messenger, my sister in law tried using skype but I think she wasn't able to use it, she didn't understand it I think, but we use YM, it's easy to use and if you have a good connection, internet connection that is, you get a good and clear voice chat. Plus there are many users of Yahoo, I can connect to more people/friends than other messaging service.

I will prefer a Yahoo Messenger. It is a great chat room. For me, I will choose Yahoo Messenger because I believe Yahoo messenger have a lot of good features rather than MSN. It is more user friendly messenger and a lot of people using it. And all of my friend using it. And you can share all about the stuff you want when you are using Yahoo Messenger.

I currently only use yahoo but used to use msn. I uninstalled it cause most of the ppl I had on it were never online. If they really want to talk, they will have to find me in yahoo cause that's all I'll use now.
