Okay, so I know that this will probably stir up some controversy, BUT I wanna talk about rap music.
These days a rapper will be quick to talk about females in a demeaning way. MANY females like, and listen to this music. I happen to be one of them. It's funny because I don't feel that they are the only ones who do it. BUT you hear MORE about Dr. Dre, and snoop, BIGGIE, and ect....doing it then you hear about LIL' KIM talking about a man, and how he ain't $hit....ect....Why is it like this people???
Seriously, if you know the song isn't about you, then who cares? Music is good. Fun to listen to, and in this case, 9 out of 10 times I think it's meant to be taken lightly.

I love rap..everyone here knows that by now..so I can honestly say my attitude towards the way women are talked about in the songs is simple...I know I am not the type of female who does the things they talk about (but know a bunch that do) so it doesn't bother me at all..I take the music as it is, MUSIC..its entertainment...and yes, the female rappers talk about men as well, so its pretty much a two-way street..

I also meant to add an example..Jay-Z did a song called "99 Problems"...in the song, he says "I got 99 Problems but a b**** ain't one"..in the song, he isn't talking about females, he is talking about jealous people and people in general who just don't have any sense...lots of people thought he was talking about females...some of the songs might come off as demeaning or just plain wrong, but you just have to listen to them...

I think a lot of the rap songs are demeaning. I think really young kids who has no real positive role models see this thing as common language. They idolize some of these artist and use there filth as every day language. I hear this crap in first and second grade students. It bothers me to no end hearing the b word referring to females. I have gone to the mall and there are young men calling out to their female friends as b come here. I do not like driving to the gas station and hearing f b. I personally does not think the filth they put in the songs add value. It's just my opinion, but if your only talent is using filth then you really have no talent.

I cannot stand rap music because of the language. It's horrible. I would take rap music seriously if it were not so offensive.

I think anyone who takes music, let alone rap music, that personally should really rethink the idea of it. I for one love Rap, Hip Hop, R&B and all the rest for that matter. I understand that the songs were not directed at me nor are the lyrics to the songs. When I find myself liking a song that seems to demean woman- most often I only like it because it has a good beat to it. So I really pay no attention to all that :)

I don't take it personally at all. I don't think most people do. My daughter likes rap and so I have had to listen to quite a bit of it. It is not my music of choice but I have been surprised to find that I actually do like some of it. I do however think that some of it is just vulgar and violent and I really don't find that pleasant to listen to. To each his own. My parents didn't like my music either. To be honest, I think I could find something I enjoy in every category of music. I don't set my radio dial on country either but I have friends that love it and some of it I actually do like. Its all a matter of personal taste.

I am a rap fan, and I dont see it as being demeaning to females. It could be considered demeaning to other people certain females though. I would suggest you listen to Tupac's song "You Wonder Why They Call You B****". That title may be off a little bit, but you should be able to easily find it. He talks about how he isn't referring to all females when he uses the word B****, but certain females who act in a way that brings it upon themselves. Those who use their bodies to gain advantages etc. I have heard the song it is directed at a reporter who asked Tupac a question about how his music is demeaning to females. I hope this gives you some insight.
