I also was quit peeved at how they put the wrong man in prision. but yet that man turn'd tha systum up side down, to the point where the big guy killed himself. Mr Robyns was awesome in this film. there was true hope in this one for a better life. the director of this had just given his life to the Lord a yr before this was made. that's why I think of this as the Greatest Movie of the Century. a MasterPiece that will live for as Long as we live.

I have seen this movie long time ago but I could remember well how the story went through. How touching was the story of Andy (played by Tim Tobbins)when he helped his co-prisoners and even the guards despite the brutalities he received at first, but later earned him their respect. More importantly, what was more meaningful in the movie was that he never lost hope for the future - a hope he tried to pass on to the other prisoners. He never stopped believing in life's possibilities, but to make the most of them he needed to be free. You can't ask for more specially the climax.

I love what you said 'he never lost hope for the future-a hope he tried to pass on to the other prisoners'.I guess it is the charisma of personality and Tim Robbins's performance was wonderful!

Andy DuFresne (?) was one smart guy. He never bewailed what happened to him, but he always tried to come up with better ways. He was quiet and didn't even confide what he was doing to Red, but he worked the entire time he was in prison at getting out again. This movie also showed that sometimes things that happen are for a reason. Andy didn't belong in prison, but he did a world of good while he was there. I loved this movie, and I also loved "Murder in the 1st" which someone above mentioned. I love to see the underdog triumph over the corrupt institution.

Welcome to mylot community 522381221!I am also a big fan of this film and I dont even remember how many times I have seen this movie. It teaches me several things. 1.nothing is impossible,as long as you have hope, 2.never give up yourdreams, 3.you win respect by your own widom and personality, 4.book and music are our good friends. The film always inspires me when I feel tried, frustrated and dont want to move on. Sorry,I feel my english is still not good enough to express what I want to say.Happy posting!

You know what, I am not one of those movie freaks. I saw this movie last month only. A shame I guess to miss such a movie for such a long time. Anyways, I had heard a lot about the movie and when I sat down to see it, for the first half of it, I was thinking why do people are crazy for this. I mean it looked like another of those prison movies and what is the life of a person in prison. But when the story unfolded in the end, I was shocked. Just couldn't imagine that it will take such kind of a turn. That guy looked a content man in the whole movie till the time when he broke out. How can someone hide his intentions for so long? That was the most amazing part of the movie.

Love this movie but i was a little disappointed on how tim robbins escaped from the prison as it was based on the book (Count of Monte Cristo of which i had seen of course, too) considering that this book was mentioned in one of the scenes.. Kinda corny but overall, the movie was great. It's still top rated in yahoo movies. The very reason why i watched this movie hehe..

I have loved this movie from the first time I saw it. Injustice still happens in our system, unfortunately. But at least this movie showed justice being done and the corrupt guy getting caught.
