How do you play?

A friend recently told me she thinks I'm a control freak because of the way I play The Sims. So I wanted to see if anybody out there plays it as I do. I like to create the people, manipulate them for a little while until they have a few friends, a decent level of job and enough furnishings. Then I let them have their free will for a few hours. Of course, when I come back, they haven't eaten, lost their jobs & friends, etc. Now this being the part I enjoy most - I swoop in and fix everything they've messed up and make their lives better. Does this really make me a control freak?! Doesn't anyone else out there play the game like this?

I always control what my sims do. I never let them do what they want for more than a few minutes because they do the stupidest things sometimes. I don't think your a control freak. Everybody has their own way of playing. I like your way and I might just try it just so I can save the day.lol.

I agree with you - they do do the stupidest things! Another of my friends told me I had codependency issues because you hit it right on the head - I want to rush in and save the day. What's wrong with that, right!!!

Your friend would probably think I was some type of psycho as I sometimes make people that I am mad at and either drown them in the pool or fence them in a small area and make them suffer.lol. Don't worry, I don't do that often and I usually don't save the game.lol.

That is priceless! I've never thought to do that but on my computer Sims you can invite that obnoxious clown to come and pester certain people. Which is horrible because he makes them depressed and it takes a lot to make him go away. They usually end up dying because they can't stand him! I have to try the drowning trick. Can you do that on all the versions?

I like to play the Sims as well as you. But I like to have a good job and get married and then have our own children. It's likely to the reality. The latest version allows you to be pregnant and then deliver your baby. It's so cool and I love this new improvement for this game.

I like that part, too. I'm such a romantic fool that when the heart pops up when your Sims are in love and the cheesy music plays, I'm so happy. I wonder if that's creepy? But I like to think that my little creations are falling in love, raising families and being happy! Then there's the flip side to that because then I'll let them go on their own for a few hours and Child Services has come and removed their baby, they're starving and don't know they have to use the bathroom! Ahh, what would they do without us?!?

well if that makes you a control freak then I think I am worse, I don't trust them for a few hours maybe half an hour at the most of free will is all they get (while I am playing other sims). However, if I play the single sim I am in control all the time they do what I think is best for them... they might not like all the time. But I think your strategy is pretty interesting I might try sometimes.

It's funny, my computer Sims take longer to mess up their life while my PSP2 Sims can't survive more than a few hours. When I'm playing them, I can't stand it when they engage their free will and not want to do what I want them to do. Like I'd trust them to know what's good for themselves! Who thought up this game and how did they know it would be so addictive?!

On my computer, I have Livin' Large & Pet expansion pack, which I love! I bought a set that included The Sims and Livin' Large for about $30 then I bought the Pets expansion pack for another $20. On my PSP2, I've got The Sims 2. I found that used for $9.99. They're all great fun so it's just a matter of deciding what kind of environment you like most. I like the Pets version most because I'm a huge animal fan. Let us know which one you decide on and how you like it.

I play the game the same way as you. I like the challenge of putting their lives back together when they're in tatters! I rhink it makes the game that bit more interesting!
