I do think the internet should be free..I don't know why they charge other then to help upkeep the wiring..and pay those who answer phones and offer customer service.
When you start thinking about those things that explains why it isnt free..no one works for free..so the fees pay for those who help you when you have trouble!

Well, certain areas do have free internet services. Where I live, New York City, offers free dial up to all its residents through a service called MetConnect (if I remember correctly). It's very slow, though.
But internet service is a business and as 'essential' as it is, there are plenty other essential things that we must pay for through individual companies as well (such as phone service, electricity, etc).

We pay our isp for our internet connection. We pay about $40 a month for cable broadband. Do you mean to tell us that at 2009, we will have to not only pay our $40 a month, but to pay one cent every time we come upon a web page? I do not understand. We already pay for the internet. Do you mean that only rich people will be able to use it starting in 2009?

hi ajrox1810, remember that no food is free beneath the sun. You pay in form of money, time, energy and so on to get the fruit. Internet is a net and we the user are hunted here and we also pay it to keep ourselve online. Cyber companies are also paying to run their mare. If some one says or offers about some thing free, then you should learn that he or she is hunting clientele for their product. Mind that Nothing was free, Nothing is free and nothing will free in 2009 and afterward.
