We like to eat watermelon, as it is one of the best season fruit in summer. However, every time when we try to choose the sweet one, we have to make a big effort and still have no clue which one is the right one. Do you know how to choose it?

i love watermelons, my favorite. usually, i check the top and bottom parts and see if the part where the matermelon has been cut from the plant/vine is already dry. dry means it has already matured. matured can mean more sugar and it would be sweet. and over on the other end is a yellowish-brown bottom meaning it's ripe.
then i do little pats all over the watermelon using the back of my middle finger. when it produced a resounding echo/sound it's ripe for the plucking.
but we have to remember that there are sevela varieties in the market. even if we found out which ones could be ripe and sweet, it still depends if the variety in particular is actually sweet. there are vendors willing to give a taste test. grab it if you want to be sure. there are supermarkets which sells halves or quarters of a watermelon. you can check the deep color (red or yellow) and the sugary texture, those are usually sweet. :)
never choose fresh harvest, mostly it's young and not ripe yet. it takes a few days after harvest to make the fruit sweeter. :)

Follow these tips to pick the best watermelon available.
Look the watermelon over, choose a firm, symmetrical watermelon that is free of bruises, cuts and dents.
Lift it up—the watermelon should be heavy for its size. Watermelon is 92% water, which accounts for most of its weight.
Turn it over—on the underside of the watermelon there should be a creamy yellow spot from where it sat on the ground and ripened in the sun.

You can tell a sweet water mellon by its size, sound and by its colour-our type of water mellon are big weighing about 3-4kg, when ready they are hard and sound high pitched when hit by the back of the finger. They are deep emerald green! If any water melon meets these features, then once a knife goes through, you will expect deep red fruit with a lot of juice-taste it and sure, it will be very sweet!

No I just normally pick out a watermelon normally the bigger ones.. I can't really tell if they are the sweet ones though but I'm pretty sure they are juicy.. I think most watermelons are pretty sweet, rather they are big or small..

How To Choose a Sweet Watermelon:
Go into the store with enough cash to buy the following items:
A Cutting Board
A Sharp Knife
A Bowl
Garbage Bags
3 large watermelons
1 package paper or plastic plates
1 container of handy-wipes
1 package Saran-Wrap or LARGEST SIZE freezer baggies.
Gather these items into your shopping cart, then find the produce manager.
Tell the produce manager:
"I'm not insane or dangerous - I'm just in need of a good watermelon"
Toss the cutting board atop the flattest surface you can find in the produce section. Put the watermelon that you think is sweetest onto the cutting board. Take out the knife and carve up the watermelon. Put the watermelon chunks into the large bowl and the watermelon rind into one of the garbage bags that you're going to throw away later. Put some watermelon on a paper or plastic plate, whichever type you selected. Offer a taste-test to the produce manager and passersby so that you can check to see that they, also, think that your selection is a watermelon of the sweetest variety.
If your first attempt is a success, and the watermelon is really sweet and tasty, put some saran wrap over the bowl (or put the watermelon into baggies) and take everything to 'check-out.' Don't forget to come back, if necessary, and use the handy wipes at the produce counter to clean up.
If the first attempt didn't work, you brought 2 more watermelons with you in the cart, right?
If you make it through 3 watermelons and you still haven't found a really nice, sweet watermelon, don't worry about it. You're in the store, there are more watermelon, right? You brought your money, right?
Just keep slicing through the watermelon 'til you find a sweet one. Then wrap it up, clean up your mess - then don't forget to go through heck-out' properly and pay for everything.
Or.
Next time you're in the store - ask the produce manager how to tell if you're selecting a sweet watermelong or not.

A watermelon has yellow spots on the bottom of it. The darker those yellow spots, the sweeter the mellon is.
