A couple of shocks for me.

My next door neighbour is about 2 years older than me and looks 80. He drinks beer morning noon and night and walks with a shuffle and is bent over. I hadn't seen him lately and knowing he suffers from the cold thought he was hibernating. I found out today he has been in hospital. He is riddled with cancer and only expected to live a few days. We are mates but not living in each other's pockets as this is a small village. It was a real shock to hear this news.
then about 2 hours after learning about my neighbour I heard of another local, Paddy, also around my age, had a heart attack and died at work on the farm where he works this morning. That's nine towns folk who have died in the 18 months I've been here and my nephew died recently too.
It makes you think about your own mortality. I got a real couple of shocks with these announcements today anmd just wanted to get things out. Thanks for reading.

These things tend to all happen at once in villages. There is often a time when dying seems endless, or cancer takes two or three off to hospital and hospice. But then, when you look around, the guy next door to me is 94 this year, the woman who used to live downstairs, lived to 108, which more than compensates for those leaving us.
Take care, my friend... we would like to see you around for a few years yet! Brightest Blessings.

I'm sorry for your double dose of bad news tickle. As you said, when we get news such as this, we begin to become much more cognizant of our own mortality. I like the advice given by a poster above who said that is why we need to live each day as if it were our last. We are not guaranteed a tomorrow, so we should enjoy today!

Well darling, we had a discussion not so long ago about lifestyle and looking after yourself. How are those bubble bathes going? Getting exercise, learning how to relax, let go, pampering?
Makes you wonder what goes through peoples minds, what lives they have endured to reach places like the ones your friends have.
Mortality is a given and we are all on the same conveyor belt. Makes you look at what's important in life.

G'day there, gee it's been awhile. I'm doing really well thankyou. I've been really inspired by some like you here..still not doing much exercise but freeing up my soul and thinking in a more positive manner.
I've found when you let go of the crap cluttering your life things are clearer and yes, you can see what's most important. Hugs to you.

I am sorry that you got a double dose of bad news today. Yes, when bad things happen like that, many people stop and think about their own life. I guess thats why its important to live your life everyday like it is your last and enjoy it. You never know what will happen.

That's too bad, it makes me think that if this is all happening in your town, maybe it's the town itself that is the reason behind these deaths. I have a friend in Iowa that lives in a very small town. She tells me they lose people left and right there, and most of them are due to cancer. There is definately something wrong with that place to be having so many deaths, and from the same cause. It's wierd and it's scarey.

It is sad when someone you care for is gone I always try to believe that they have gone to a better place and that we will see each other again one say.

im sorry to hear about your nephew..and your friend. you say that its a small village..im wondering how small, is 9 deaths in 18 months a lot? to me just the term "small village" makes me think that that many deaths is a unusual..at least in such a relativly short time period.

Its is really embarrising to know.Even i came across one of my collegues doing the same thing. So,in my view,i like to suggest people that live happily with a smile on their face even though we have troubles, becoz we dont what happens tommorrow. If u have money try to help the needy so that you get happiness in it.

I agree life is lots of intrigues and mysteries. We don't know what happens in the next moment. But let us not go into that, we should live our life to the fullest.
