Blood Screening/ Blood Test

When a doctor gets a sample of your blood for testing, do they test it to check if you are suffering from a PARTICULAR disease or do they test it to check if you have ANY disease? If the blood test results are negative, does that mean that you are suffering from no disease at the time of the test?

most doctors only test for what they think is wrong with so it might come back as negative for what you were tested for. hope that makes sense
