how do you know if someone likes you?

what are the telltale signs that indicate that a person is into you? i have been one to hide my feelings until the time is right. i'm the awkward type so i'm one of those who keep things hidden. i'm sure there are a lot of people out there who are like me or who have trouble expressing these kinds of feelings. so apart from a confirming statement, how do you know if a person is into you? or how would you otherwise express that you are interested in a person if words weren't allowed? i also read that body language gives a lot away. like when a girl blushes, or nostrils flare, or the iris in one's eyes enlarge causing a person to blink more often than normal, shift in voice, etc. what else do you know about this? i'm curious
