In todays music competition, where the public is asked to judge, i feel a lot of injustice is done to the participants because people tend to judge based on state, religion etc rather than the voice quality of the particiapnt. Many a times I have seen wonderful singers being disqualified by the public, more so, girls. I think, to really get a quality singer to win, the judgement should be left to the judges only. They are the ones who can judge without prejudice (mostly).

Completely agree with u! There were too many disgusting competitions i've seen with that obvious prejudices. It's common that the second place or the third place became famous and widely popular, but the champion is forgot by people quickly. Anyway,I don't know what's the situation like in your countries. In my country, people know the "business" and always talk about this. This is a good discussion~

upto some extent i think that you are right because it all depends on who get more sms votes and that can always be made biassed one of my friends cousin reached upto the semifinals in indian idol i had a chat with his dad he said that i have 10 sim cards all of my couliguee sit together and send votes for hours continuously and wife uses landline phone at home to vote. so you see victory and singing talent is also purchased here but the organizers donot have to care about this because the money flowing in from the network providers due to this sms, is quite a large amount. TRP of their chanel increases so they are happy in this way. but like this we are really gonna miss out the natural talent.. but in only one scenario this talent hunt shows are creating a positive effect is that of keeping india together they are also binding many citizens together just like any other sport

I agree with you on this take. I have watched many a good singer on shows like American Idol be tossed off in the early rounds and it seems to be that they don't fit that typical "star" quality. I do feel that letting the general public vote does make things tend to lean to a particular area or ethnicity.

today's music competitions are less of music and more of show bizz. they are lacking music and changing the real meaning of music.
