Daughter or son

There's some culture who prefers a son from a daughter, asian people particularly the chinese prefers a son to carry on their family name, but with changing times I think they are beginning to realize that whether you have a son or a daughter it's not really important, as long as you raised them to be good people.

Hi belle1201! :) It is true. I have Chinese girl friends and they pour out to me their frustrations about their parents wishing that they were boys. More attention are given to boys than girls. But I believe that in today's society where everybody has an equal opportunity and there's already women power, women have come out successful in their chosen field. Take care and God bless! =)

It is true that in China many people value son more than daughter. In fact it is unnecessary .As i know,in many areas, daughters care more about their parents. So,maybe,it is better……

yes u should be more concerned abt being a good parent then prefering to choose between a girl or a boy. i mean its ok to prefer one but sometimes ppl get their unborn children killed just coz it was not a boy

I am a Chinese. I think your thought may be somewhat true in some families. However, this situation actually changes a lot. I don't mind whether I have a son or a daughter, all I care is whether my child is healthy and happy. And I think this is the most common thoughts for most parents today.
