Some hate teachers. Others have stories about teachers who have changed their lives. I've been lucky. I teach a subject that is despised by many, but I've been for the most part, appreciated and loved.
I remember a teacher I had all the way back in elementary school. She gave me direction, and inspiration. Mrs. Diglio, what are you doing now?
Tell me your teacher stories, good and bad.

I am also a certified teacher. I decided to stay at home after my 2nd child was born because there were no full time jobs available and I was very tired of subbing.
I probably have a different respect for teachers being that I was in the classroom for 3 years~ some full time, some subbing.
You really can't lump all teachers together. Some are very passionate about teaching, while others are just there to get the pay check. My daughter is going into 3rd grade and was assigned the same teacher my 18 yr old had for 3rd grade. This teacher had no control of her classroom. She should have retired years ago, but is still there. She hands out work and sits at her desk doing who knows what. She is hard of hearing, so if she isn't looking right at the students, they get out of control. I immediately called the school and had my daughter taken out of this classroom as my son fell behind academically while in her class.

Hello fellow teacher,
You have an excellent point. In fact, there are members of my faculty I'd like to tell them to get a clue. I've been teacher over 10 years now in the high school environment, and although it could be tough, it's a labor of love.
And, I believe once a teacher, always a teacher, right? You know what I mean.
Thanks so much for your input.

i always admired teachers (although i did not get along with them all) because i always saw them as persons who make our futures possible. without teachers we would not be able to become the persons we are today (or are still becoming). I was always also aware that teaching is their job and if they were harsh and unpleasant that does not mean they are really like that... they are different persons in personal life. Go teachers :).
a bad story: i had a teacher who hated my guts (because i liked to talk my mind and was independent) so she would always call my parents (even though they told her that i am educating myself because of me and not because of them, so she had to speak to me--i guess that bugged her), for everything if i was late for few minutes, if i said something somebody did not agree with, she also called my parents to say that she saw me smoking in my free time (my parents knew).

As teachers, it's important to respect our students, set boundaries but know where our place is in their lives. I've bucked heads with some students, but always make it my goal to get through to them. I always found that they're doing what they do for some reason, and the 45 minutes they spend with me is only a small part of their lives.
thanks for much for your comments & thoughts.

I had a teacher in high school who was Azerian. he was teaching analitic geometry and he was so good at it that it became my favourite class. but the interesting thing with him was that he wasn't eating anything on Mondays. when we asked him he said that his stomach needs to have some rest as well. he was really disciplined and this always impressed me. I tried to do that Monday thing but on Sunday i decided that i'm not so disciplined :)
