Pretend for a minute that you were planning to have a dinner party for ten friends. And, for some reason, all this is last minute, so you don't have lots of spare time to plan. The party starts in less than eight hours. And, you're on a limited budget.
If you had $50 and ten minutes to shop in the grocery store/deli, which foods would you buy so that everyone had a chance to eat? Would you buy deli foods/bakery items and then just fake it, so that everyone thought you had spent all day cooking? Or, would you insist on home cooking for the dinner party? Do you think you could actually feed ten grown adults for $50 or less?

You know the best thing I've found to feed a crowd of ten people is to make a big pot of chili. Of course some people may go home with some heartburn lol. But it's cheap and easy to fix. I'll buy some bags of tortilla chips, cheese, and sour cream. And if I want to fake dessert I'll just buy a box of cookies or something like that.

I love chili! But, it's been two years since I made any. I don't even have the recipe anymore. I'm always getting the spices wrong so it doesn't taste right! Could you drop by for a minute and post your favorite homemade chili recipe. I would sure appreciate it!

I take a lot of short cuts with my chili. But so far it's been a big hit with my family. Here's what I use:
1-2 lbs ground beef (depending on how much chili I make)
2 cans of chili beans
2 cans diced mexican style tomatoes
1 small chopped onion
Carroll Shelby's chili mix (this is a spice package that comes with a mixture of chili seasoning, masa, cayenne pepper, and salt. I normally leave out the salt and add just a little cayenne depending on who I'm cooking for.)
You can find that spice package at the grocery store in the spice section. It's in a little brown paper looking package. It makes your chili so yummy!

You are a life saver! I am going to copy this recipe onto my files and make it at least once a week. We used to enjoy chili, but I was always making the spices too strong. I am sure this recipe will be much better! Thanks.

Feeding 10 people on $50 isn't too hard, but they won't get steak!
Homemade tacos
2 dozen flour tortillas $2
2 lb ground beef $5
1 lb cheese $3.50
3 large tomatoes $5
1 large onion $1
1 head of lettuce $1
Seasonings are probably already on hand, but let's allow $5 for that.. total: $22.50
Large watermelon for dessert $5
Still way under $50. Iced tea to drink, if you make it at home, about a dollar a gallon. Make two. :)

converting that $50 into our money, I can very well feed a crowd of ten.Firts thing I'll do of course is to get help,I cannot do all the cooking alone and preparation for that dinner since notice is too short,so I'll grab a hand maybe a friend or a sister.
With that money, I'll perpare one pasta recipe, most probably with white sauce, One pork dish, probably an adobo, one vegetable dish,buttered..the easiest, and what a desserty? I'll get them an ice cream.
