I must be getting older... I don't get the words anymore.

When I was a child, and a teen, listening to music was a great pleasure to me. I picked up lyrics easily. Meanwhile my parents complained about what I listened to and how the words didn't mean anything. Now my kids are teenagers and they are huge into music. A lot of the time, especially when they listening to something they are trying to learn to play, I can get into it. I really enjoy listening to their music most of the time. However, I find that it is getting harder and harder to understand lyrics. Is it because I am getting older and deaf or is there just something about being older that blocks your brain from hearing lyrics? Thank heaven for online sites that list lyrics, or I'd be at a total lost.

lol…. I’m 34 with a 10 year old- and I love music also- I do understand the words though- Must be the oldness hasn’t hit me yet- I love to crank it up and sing along- My daughter gets so embarrassed – lol… Maybe it is the type of music that I listen to- I don’t get rap- not at all- I try to sing along- but I can’t get the words first! lol

I have to agree with you! But I don't think it has anything to do with getting older or deaf. LOL. Have you listen to the way some of these kids talk? Its no wonder we cant understand their music lyrics. My niece will email me with something like this "wit u tkn bout, I no git wit u syn". and she talks like that as well. Most of the younger music I have heard I don't allow in my house. Used to be a song had meaning, now it seems they are just mean. I don't understand why all these songs have to have F this and F that and every other word a swear. I grew up with Dean Martin, Elvis etc playing in the house, but I love my blues and classic rock. I really love all music except this new rap stuff that I just don't get either. I hear my kids calling a friend and say "whaddup?" , thats scary. HeHeHe.
