It's obvious that classical music is pretty much unheard by america's youth. I find that pretty sad that kids my age won't be able to enjoy the masterpieces created by the geniuses such as chopin, mozart, lizt, beethoven, bach, just to name a few. Any one else feel the same way i do? This discussion is for any classical/romantic music lovers, please leave your comments!

I was very fortunate to grow up with almost every type of music imaginable. My mother loved all kinds of music. I started playing flute at the age of 6 and played in concert band, marching band, jazz band and orchestra and by the time I graduated from high school I played 9 instruments.
Now I sing with a blues/rock band so music is still a huge part of my life.
I can't imagine limiting myself to just one kind of music. My friends in school thought I was a little strange because when I'd put records (showing my age) on my record player I'd play something like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin and then put on an album of Chopin or Mozart. I still do that... only with CDs now.. LOL.
It's great that you have an appreciation of good music, whatever the genre. It will always enrich your life. So many of your peers are limiting themselves to what's popular instead of what's good. It's sad.

thanks for my first comment! thats cool you play a lot of instruments! i guess in didn't write it in my discussion but i don't only like classical. Yea zeppelin is awesome. I totally agree with how my peers are limiting themselves to what is popular. It's like most of us don't even have tastes of their own anymore!

As much as possible, I listen to Mozart every morning to jumpstart my day. I find it easier to concentrate with Mozart in the background than the kind of songs we have today.

i believe classical music like mozart does help your intelligence or at least stimulate your brain. i heard that those test rats in the maze reach the finish with ease while mozart is being played. While hard rock is played however, the rats find a corner and try to hide.

When I went to grade school, that is middle school, once a month or more (I do not know when because I had petit mal when I was young) our music teacher would take us to a symphony, and when I watched Disney and the old movies, they were always playing classical music. I grew up loving Bach Beethoven, Chopin==I took piano lessons until my father sold the piano when I was fifteen. I think Bach rocks!! I would rather listen to classical than modern anytime.

I actually used to listen to alot of classical music when I was younger. Tchaikovsky was one of my favorite.
