Things are not always what they seem

Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stays in the mansion's guestroom. Instead, the angels were given a small place in the cold basement. As thay made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole on the wall and repaired it. When the angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor family, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole source of income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel: "How could you let this happen? The man had everything, yet you helped him," she accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die.""Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I notices there was gold stored in that hole on the wall. Since the owner was so obssesd with greed and unwillingness to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he would'nt find it." "Then last night as we slept in the farmer's bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."Sometimes that is exactly what happens when thing's don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later...

That was a good story, and I do agree with you that things are not always what they seem, and we need to be careful about judging hastily. I would add to what you said at the end, our faith and trust must be in someone worthy of that trust. I don't know any person, even the ones I love the most, who is completely without any question worthy of my trust 100% of the time. However, I do know Someone who is. That person is Jesus Christ. He is always worthy of complete trust 100% of the time, and throughout eternity! Sometimes He does things in my life which I don't understand at first. However, as time goes by, I see some of the reasons why He has allowed or done certain things in my life. It's kind of like that angel. The angel knew what the other angel didn't. Jesus Christ is omniscient--He knows everything about everything. Therefore, I have learned not to question what He does in my life with the question, "Why? Why did You do that, Lord?" More and more I ask Him, "What, Lord? What would You have me to do? How would You have me respond or not respond?"
Thank you for sharing that story. :)
