Ive had a sore knee for about a week now. Just been putting up with it, as us mum's usually do. But last night it got heaps worse. Today it is worse again. I dont even know what i have done to it. So not doing much.
The big problem is though, i think it needs to be seen by the doctor. Being in a small town, we only have a doctor come once a week, so i rang there other surgery to see if i could get in. Of course i cant till monday. So i rang another one, and again, cant get in. So i try another, in a different town again, and, you guessed it, no appointments available. So i will have to put up with it till monday. Just got to take it easy till then, and hope it dont get worse.
Do you have trouble getting into see doctors?

Oh yes, and it's getting worse. The doctors in my area now have a private clinic as well as the local surgery. The private clinic is some 3-4 miles from the original surgery but guess what? Yes, because they get private patients there, it's a job to get to see them at the surgery any more.
What happened to our Health Service?

Thanks for the big hug Darkwing. My knee is still heaps sore, just wait it out till monday though. It seems that its hard to get into doctors in a lot of places. I dont understand what is happening to our health services, they are getting bad. We will have to fit in our diaries when we are going to get sick so we can make sure we can get a doctors appointment.haha. Probably still have to wait.
Best wishes to you, Darkwing, and thanks for your response

Sorry to hear your knee is bad Kay. Both mine are a problem so I can truly sympathise with you.
We only have a district nurse visit us here...there are several different ones and we can get a nurse practitioner if we need one.
Our nearest doctors are at Wee Waa, that's about 40 minutes away. I've seen one of the two doctors there and I didn't like him. My actual Doctor is in Tamworth (3 hours away) and I'm staying with him. He doesn't help me much but I like him.
It's Monday now so I hope you're not in too much discomfort and you've had a good result from the doctor. Do you have a chemist where you are?

Thanks Tickle. It isnt as bad as it was. Went to the doctor today, he thinks i have a torn ligament. I have to go have a xray and scan. But gotta wait for appointment. I have to go to coona for the doctor and luckily can get xray and scan there too. I like the doctor i see there, he seems alright.
Best wishes to you, and thanks for your response

Oh thats terrible my friend. And I do hope your not in too much pain. If you are maybe you can go the nearby hospital in your area. I have a great family doctor and he would take me anytime. Just rest till Monday and I hope it gets better all by its self. Let us know how your feeling. Here are some Hugs to you!

Oh you poor thing...I really hope it starts to ease up for you before then..thats one thing that annoys me living in the sticks, we have to make appointments 2 -3 weeks in advance ( I dont know how you are supposed to predict when you will be sick)..Or travel an hour or so to sit at the hospital for 24 hours...

Hopefully it will get better quickly, but still feels bad and sore. I know what you mean about predicting getting sick. It is shocking the way things are. I could of travelled to the hospital, but besides driving there you gotta wait, then theyd probably tell me to see how it goes and go see my doctor. So will just wait till monday. Meanwhile not doing much.
Best wishes to you, calais, and thanks for your response

I hope you feel better soon! I always have trouble trying to see my doctor, she only works 3 days a week, half days and now since she's been ill, she's working half of that. So she's in her office once a week for 3 hours. And there is no other doctor at her practice either. I'm looking for a new one. Do you not have emergency clinics or a hospital with an emergency room in your town? I would try that if you can't get in soon, it's better to be safe then to chance it with your health. Best of luck!

Thanks for your response. I hope it gets better soon. We dont have a hospital in our town. It is too small. We only get a doctor come in for 1/2 day a week. We do have a nurse here on weekday mornings, but thats it. There is a huge shortage in our country of doctors, and to get them in the rural areas is even harder.
Best wishes to you

I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. I have a bad knee so mine is sore every once in awhile. The best thing to do, until you can get in to see the Dr., is RICE(rest, ice, compression and elevation). Hopefully that will help in the meantime.
The problem I have with getting in to see the Dr. is that they have so many patients, it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get in.

I am so sorry to hear about your knee. I don't have any problems getting in to see a doctor..I am sorry to hear that you have to wait until monday. Hopefully it will feel better by then and you won't have to go..Rest it as much as possible. Elevate if as much as you can also..Maybe if you put heat on it that will make it feel better..I will be thinking of you kayrod2..*smile*
